I've cut straight threads on the lathe before manually but not with the CNC and also have never cut pipe threads other than using a Rigid machine. It would have taken our lathe man an hour to do both ends and they may or may not have been too tight. He usually makes them too tight.

My brother and I used to love going to the tractor store(s) with dad when he needed a part and looking at the toys. We would go once a year for our birthday and get something new, we didn't have much growing up and by the time our birthday came around again the toy we got the year before was worn out or broken. My son has one of the last tractors I got when I was probably around 12ish. An articulating John Deere with 8 wheels, I'm surprised it survived (circa 1987).

My lathe thread cutting leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve cut tons of pipe threads with a ratchet threader, rigid machine, and a pony threader, it would probably take me more then a day and significant pile of scrap to get anything half near decent on a lathe!

I can cut threads on a lathe (more-or-less), and I can turn tapers on a lathe, but if you want the two done together? Fah-ged-abouttit.

Actually it is pretty thrifty for a 4200 pound 55 year old car - about 18 mpg cruising on secondary roads.
I don't drive it in town much, so it might be lower if I did.

I have hundreds of hours running a Rigid 300 threader at various jobs. I had to hand thread a piece of 2" once up on a ladder, that was brutal.
When I put the metal piping in the garage I used a ratcheting hand threader for 1/2" & 3/4" black iron -- talk about an @$$ kicker... :bananadead:

Where is the "heck no" button?

For years I dressed up every Halloween as a maintenance guy -- well, actually every day...
