Just wondering who has upgraded their clutche/flywheels on their tacomas. I notice URD has a few selection of spec's which I used the same brand on my cobra. Great clutches for high torque, would imagine would be excellent of towing.

I biggest complaint with my tacoma is the light and weak clutch. It clanks and bucks on occasion with the slightest mishap, and is easily smoked.

I'd like to know this as well. Mine is pretty unforgiving. I get jerked around if I don't shift flawlessly.

**edit** I found the review. Not sure why that link didn't work for me. Interesting how the user on Post #6 had such a negative experience in contrast. Puts me right on the fence. Maybe the Stage III is overkill for an unmodified V6?

I am also intrested if anyone has gone this route, I'm more concerned with something better for heavy towing then performance.

I just ordered the URD Stage III Clutch and I sprung for the throw out bearing upgrade kit as well. Delivery is 5 days. I phoned in for the stage II but was talked into the stage III by Gadget. I'll be sure to post my results in a couple weeks. He suggested 40-60 of these/ month are flying out the door. Not to sure why we aren't seeing more reviews and comments.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of them (especially the TOB kit).

I can Tell you that the throw out bearing kit is a great idea and does infact take care of the horrible throwout bearing squeel, Toyota Claims to be working on a solution to this problem, I'm gonna wait it out in hopes that they have a better solution, or similar one that they are willing to put there name on and back up plus... might be cheaper (I'm a dealer Tech)

I talked with our Toyota Rep about the throwout bearing solution today, He told me that what they found to be the problem was the size of the throwout bearing, Toyota will be releasing a throwout bearing that has a smaller inside diameter so that it is not able to be cocked on the shaft like the older ones could, I was told we wont see anything till after the first of the year... but probably not to long after that... as far as warranty coverage is concerned, Im clueless obviously if your in standard warranty its covered but Im unaware if they are gonna do any kind of warranty enhancment

Sorry to let you down, but my clutch was warrantied after I tried a second dealership. The URD stuff is just sitting in my garage for the time being.

:) I wonder if they would use it for a warranty repair; extra costs to my wallet.

I upgraded my clutch & flywheel at 60k with URD, I went with the lightweight steel flywheel and the stage II. To my surprise my stock clutch disc wasn't that bad at all even though it exhibited some pretty bad slipping/smoking at times. There were no heat cracks in pressure plate, flywheel or the disc itself. I also installed the TOB kit while I was in there cause I already had one of those replaced under warranty for noise.

I have 5k on my new clutch and here is what I've found: the lighter flywheel does create some gearbox rattle at idle with the clutch dis-engaged but almost every vehicle I've driven (a lot) with a lightweight flywheel will do this. It does have a quicker acceleration but I traded that for a slight loss in low-end torque. I might go back to my stock flywheel. The stage II clutch feels and responds the same as my factory disc & pressure plate. I've taken it out a few times after the break-in and tested it out and twice now it exhibited slipping/smoking just like my factory unit did.

Hope this helps some of you, I'm gonna get a hold of Gadget and see if he has any recommendations.
