Clearly! And I’m starting to worry about muffler bro storefront art too. This is the end times.

I cannot understand how any legitimate business would EVER buy a chopped Catalytic Converter. Wouldn’t it make sense for the cops to focus on where the $ comes from? Put them out of business and maybe the thefts will go down. (Maybe they’re already doing it). Ridiculous nationwide problem. It’s terrible what’s happening in our country!

Some jurisdictions have, like in TX. It’ll probably take legislation at the federal level and active work by law enforcement to make a difference. If everyone had a $1,000 worth of used bicycle cable-locked to the back of their vehicles, I’m sure there would be a lot more bike thefts in parking lots.

Depends on your definition of legitimate. This is just the latest variation on an old theme. There are probably some honest businesses, but by their very nature they cater to thieves. Pawnshops have fenced stolen electronics & jewelry forever. Some years ago during the height of the crack epidemic I was a lineman & the junkies would steal copper cable faster than we could place it. Junkyards were only too happy to provide them with a market. Often the hands of LEO are tied due to nonexistent or insufficient laws. It won't be until some blowhard politician is directly affected that laws with some teeth might be passed. I'm not holding my breath.

It does angle down the TRD pro skid just a little. The thickness of the spacer/washer provided and the cat plate itself. I made I video on the install it’s been shared a few time on here.

A motion-sensitive alarm is one of the suggestions given by my local Sheriff’s Dept., but I think that the thieves’ saws are so quick they’d just cut the cats anyway before they crawled out. Maybe we could hang animal paws from the undercarriage. Splash blood all around and scrawl prime numbers. Voodoo shit.

I installed mine without drilling any holes in the frame. There are already 4 bolts at the back without the frame drilled ones, at the front side I cut an aluminum piece to fit below and above the frame so I could mount two bolts instead of one there, leaving the center hole and sides of the outer holes partly open for drainage. This has to be done before attaching the outer angle plates though, since you have to be able to reach the top of the frame rail there.

    That's a nice install!

Don't have to mess with the skid plate because of the cutout.

Another security measure to fund for my Taco. (I'm good with it...the wife, not so much...lol)

With regard to thieves, as long as I he profit out weighs to punishment nothing will change. It has always been so. It’s just a lot more obvious today.

My unincorporated area has pretty darned good patrols by the sheriff. Nearby the city of L A is piss poor. Thieves know which side of the line they are on. Still I’m ordering a cat protector.

1/8 inch solid aluminum plate, it says on the website--$309.

Not sure the thickness of the other mentioned cat protector.

Right now, it's just a thought...still time to evaluate other styles.
