Done. Good to go with no issues. However, there is another recall for frame treatment. They inspected the frame and found no rust. Therefore, it qualifies for the "CRC" treatment. They ordered (special order) the plug kits. Guess they'll notify me when kits arrive so I can come in. It must be a detailed process because I need to leave it for several days! Reason I have no rust is that I treated my frame with "Fluid Film" and it worked well. Makes me wonder if I really need the Toyota "CRC" treatment?

It can't hurt & it's not a bad thing to have documentation that the dealer treated the truck should future problems arise.

Had it done, it takes a day or two to cure from what I remember.

I learned my lesson about recalls / repair campaigns with my 91 when I ignored the head gasket recall for the 3.0 V6. They were replacing gaskets or replacing engines up to 100k miles, mine blew at 130k.

Just received an update on my repair, everything is complete and ready to reinstall AFTER they get the replacement carpet padding. ETA for the padding is now 19 Nov.

Looks like I'll be putting a couple thousand miles on this new 4Runner loaner.

They were out of Tacomas so they offered me a Highlander or a 4runner. I'm looking for a new car for the wife so the 4runner was picked first. Looks like I'm getting a 6 week test drive.

Yeah I haven't been too disappointed the truck is taking so long however I've been deferring my "dirty jobs" until I get the truck back. I can haul a bunch in the 4runner but I prefer keeping the interior looking good. Yesterday it hauled six 5 gallon water bottles home.

Had mine done yesterday, no leaks or any issues but I figured I shold get it done. I was there at 7am and out by 8am. The tech was awesome, took his time, didn't make a mess.

Mine was scheduled for Nov. 2nd as well but they called me and said they had a 7am opening if I wanted to bring it it. It was quick and painless and not one single issue. Actually it looks better with the trim piece than before.

Oh, they put a different trim piece on it? I just thought they took it apart and squirted in some sealant or something! Hmmm; interesting! I will have to take a pic or two before I take it in, so I can show a before and after! Thanks for that info!

I think if your truck is just a couple of years old, garage kept or you live in a dry climate you probably won't have much of an issue with leaks or mold. My truck has spent every single day for the last 6 years outside exposed to the elements, it's never seen the inside of my garage. The parking lot of where I work is just a few hundred feet from the ocean so it's been exposed to some extreme weather including two hurricanes. I'm not surprised my early build would have had a problem. This is a view of my parking at work yesterday.
    20211029_083500.jpg

From what I'm told only the carpeting and underlying padding and insulation are being replaced, that's where the mold was found, the headliner, seats and rear panels are fine and have no apparent water damage. One thing I've been thinking is I take the truck to an automatic car wash monthly where they remove the rubberized floor mats and spray them down with water to clean them then put them back in the truck, many times still wet. I'm curious if that may also have contributed to the mold problem in my case.

Just something for you guys to think about if you wash your mats regularly and put them in the truck wet.

Anytime. It really looks more complete than before. I was going to just buy the new light assembly for the 2021 but after seeing the fix on a friend's Tacoma after the recall I thought it looks better than before. Now after seeing it, to me it looks like something was always missing. Anyhow it was free!!!

Pretty sure in California that only applies to ‘emissions related recalls’ and not all recalls.

I don't know, but for example, in the "last" recall before the current one regarding the center taillight issue, the one about the fuel pump from earlier this year, there are people who also reported it right here in Tacomaworld, how they went to renew their license sticker, and were told that they could not do so until they got the recall done regarding the fuel pump. That doesn't have anything to do with emissions, so for me, I am not taking any chances, which is why I am going this morning, to have my center taillight/stop light recall taken care of. Yes, it is a hassle, but better than to be told in the license plate renewal process that it had to be done before I could renew my plate...
