I've had four different people this year alone roll up to my house when I was outside doing some work in the driveway/yard and try to buy 1997 F350 CC 4x4 PSD with "cash money". They threw numbers at me that some folks might actually consider.

I tell them that you came to me wanting my truck. It only has 129k original miles, completely stock and unmolested with mods or chips, etc and not even for sale. Then gave them a ridiculous counter offer to see if they would stick around.

Then I have the other guys that live local to me that have seen it parked out front for years come over and ask me if its for sale. I have a list going on my phone with all their contact info for when/if I get ready to sell it.

I'd love to swap it out for a Tundra, not even a new one. As I don't have the need for the diesel anymore.

Thats what I'm going to do. I'll hear them out and give them my "demands" and see what they come back with for numbers and a response. Its as simple as if i don't like what they are offering i say no and i go on with life and nothing is lost. If i like what they have to offer and i think its a decent offer then I'll take a serious look at accepting it.

The dealership is a business and other people are commenting like they are "angry" a business is trying to make money. Of course they are, that's why they are in business :D. Non of us would have jobs very long if our companies didn't make profit. Its whether or not that Dealerships Business Interests align with my needs and financial position. Just like any transaction if We find a good middle ground then we both win. If not the patient dies on the table.

Especially with Diesel being more expensive than gas now right?

I hear ya on your comment regarding business but it’s a farrrr stretch to compare the vultures at pretty much any stealership to a good properly ran family business or GOOD business in general. I’ve had many friends that have worked for stealerships and “MOST” of those clowns will steal from their own mother on their death bed. Sorry…

understandable....but the vultures wont get a meal if their meal knows they are vultures in the first place. I'm not going in with eyes closed. I'm 54 years old and a 25 year "retired" veteran with my own business in a very competitive industry and tend to have a presence that i have had many say intimidates people and an uncanny ability to see through bullshit.

This! Almost like real estate these days. Sell high buy high. My truck with 112k new frame , leaf springs, steering rack, and in overall excellent condition can probably get me about 20k. Just a guess. I have no payments and I’m not interested in 5 more years of that. I’ll sell / trade if I really need to

Eh not too long of a loan. Positive equity on the trade in and a better interest rate for a truck that I got for a price that wasn't marked up.

I do understand the jealousy though.

My local dealer has nothing new on their lot. They tell me they sell new inventory the day it arrives.

They offered me $30k on my 2019 with 30k miles, a shitload of pin stripes and 1 reported accident. I passed… spent too much on mods to sell it right now

same I about lost my shit buying our 4runner with the stupid finance games and all I do all day is negotiate contracts for my day job. It’s sad that we can’t just buy a car like a mountain bike or any other piece of gear. I’m happy to have a sales rep work with me but the pricing being different by market is stupid.

Custom, only one ever designed and built interiors, heavily welded frame, all sharp metal turned bed rack and a roof top I made for $75. Power pedal, injen intake system, cat delete, summit racing brake proportioning valve controlled on the fly, slightly adjusted or perhaps unrecognizable ECM, built in under bed storage, high clearance rear built with 1/4" on a 6011 1/8" rod at 120 amps, 360 degrees of led light, a PA and CB, on board air, on board propane (to cook food), on board fridge made from an old red bull fridge found on some guys man cave built into the storage cubby under the back seat, imported tranny and clutch from a good friend over in Europe to replace this aisin junk we get, combined 32 gallons fuel capacity, 18 5 gallons of water storage, built in gun locker under RTT, and all it cost was to hear the wife ramble on about upset neighbors at 2 in the morning every night since I bought that damn truck..
I've had that with two stealerships I've dealt with, the first one where I ordered my trd off road in Dickinson, ND and the 2nd in Pinehurst, NC. These places are desperate that's for sure. Long story short, I figured I'd swing by just for a cheap laugh (my 2019 is nowhere near what they expected haha) the service manager took one look and called the head tech up and he poked his dome in the cab and said it's beyond repair. I asked what the issue was and he said there's no original dash and all the buttons were missing. I replied that it's not my fault the design wasn't up to my standards, that's why I built a new one. Sigh.. it's gotta be worth half a mil for sure..

I was making sure I wasn't missing something. Happy you got a new truck man, I got contacted by the dealership for mine as well, just wasn't the right time for me and I'm happy with my truck. Kudos to anyone who can get the new truck they want reasonably, that's the part that would probably deter me the most.
