AAA for the win!, But Like @Kwikvette said the back window gasket is the easiest way with out destroying anything. You can do it with 2 flat screwdrivers, just start at the bottom corners and work your way across. Toyota even put a little groove in the cab at the bottom corners to get you started. Getting the window back in is another kind of fun. The string trick works well but it may take a time or two to get it.

Was texting Jimmie my first try at a long pass, second weld of the day -



I got 4 x 12" long pieces of flat bar for bed stiffeners, was thinking of using an 11" piece that'll get cut to a 45 at each end and braced like this -

 

That's about what I do when I make em, I've made a few sets and never for myself :/

 

Just flat bed


No bed sides no problem

 

I must confess I've wanted to make a flatbed for a while, but I can't deny that the trucks look a lot better with real bedsides and I don't really want to make the truck fatter either.

Mod day @Kwikvette 's house is gonna be sweet.

 

It's not so much about selflessness as not carrying too much unnecessary shit, my bed bars are designed slightly short with a vertical section before they were welded to the bracket part. They keep the bedsides in shape and don't flex them much with the design. I stay light unlike my friends haha

 

have you seen flatbeds skinned with factory bedsides? They're pretty common on welding trucks around here.

I'm having a hard time coming up with examples, though
