Yes, TLD doesn’t offer enough different color ways. I also can’t figure why they’re priced so much higher. I guess now with fox new retail it’s only $30, but still higher.
They’re probably made in same sweatshop

 

yea and the TLD options just didn't seem as open and ventilated as the proframe, but it's still just as strong in a crash from what I've seen on a few tests.

 

Second the Prana Zions for active use. (also the Brion for a slightly more work-friendly look). I have like 6 pairs of them and wear them to work, on the bike, etc. Another good option for cheap af riding pants is go get a set of fatigue pants from your local surplus store. $9 for a pair of pants made to hold up to moderate use by design.

 

Hey, how do you access Bonanza flat? Last I looked the only way was to climb the road, which I wasn't into.

 

Waiting on my pre-order of the new Trek Roscoe hardtail trail bike! Scheduled to show up in May... It's maybe harder to get a bike than a Taco!

 

Well...that's why there's no one there!

You have to climb HWY 224 from the gate (where mid-mtn crosses) to Empire Pass and then ride down to Bonanza Flat to get on the trails. And once you're done riding, you have to climb back up to Empire and then down. It's a haul, for sure.

Would I say it's worth it? Questionable. I had fun with a group up there on New Years Day...it was sunny and the trails were perfect. We planned on spending hours up there riding, eating lunch, etc. It is definitely not the place to go for a quick loop. We spent a solid 4-5 hours up there and never saw another rider. There is solitude and fun riding, but you have to work for it. I went up two more times...once was great, the other was a bust with soft trails.

They used to do Snowshoe tours from that gate along mid mountain around the giant hotel all the way back in to Johns 99 etc. It was absolutey epic - but they haven't done them the last two years....

 

I get close to the "Analysis Paralysis" realm when looking for specific parts, gear, etc. I did a lot of research on riding pants last year. I got the Specialized Demo Pro pants. They are really nice & comfortable and I would highly recommend for normal trail riding in cooler/damp conditions.

You might not like what I like, but I tried on every one of these. Here's how I'd rate them:
(1) Specialized Demo pro (purchased)
(2) Giro Havoc (would have been #1 but the pockets don't zip)
(3) Troy Lee Skyline
(4) Fox Flexair
(5) Pearl Izumi Launch

If you're looking for more downhill-ish, park pants, here's what I really liked:
(1) 100% R-Core X
(2) Troy Lee Sprint
(3) POC Resistance

Thanks. Circa 1999-2000 model. Full XTR drivetrain. Was forced to change rear shock because I could no longer get it serviced or get a new OE one. Fork oil side is leaking a bit and still holds air. I was thinking of selling but I have had this since new.
