Does anybody know for sure if it's a direct bolt on fitment? On the BAMF site it has an option for 2nd and 3rd gens which leads me to believe theres some slight variations.

Reason for this: I am looking at a used set thats currently on a 3rd gen SBDC / MY 2020 and wondering its a no fuss bolt on for my 2nd gen SBDC / MY 2012.

First hand experience and opinions are greatly appreciated!

Maybe call BAMF and see if they can tell you the differences. There might be an easy work-around to make them fit.

The frames of the Gen2 and Gen 3 are virtually identical. There may be minor differences in the placement of gas or brake lines. I doubt there is anything that would prevent one from going on the other. Be aware that sliders very often require some trimming or pinch weld pounding to get them on, even when you have the correct model. They are designed to fit close, and sometimes "close" ends up being too close. I would create at least a 1/2" gap between the slider supports and the truck body. If they hit you will have a gawd awful noise.

They will technically fit, but third gen frames have an extra layer of metal outboard of the frame at the trans crossmember. A lot of slider companies address this by adding a small relief to the forward mounting surface. I believe I saw that BAMF specifically addresses this by adding small spacers to the backside of the two most forward mounting holes. All this means in the end is that you’ll have a small gap between the rest of the mounting plate and the frame of your truck. Other wise the mounting holes should line up. Not a huge issue although it might be argued that it “weakens” the forward mount by reducing the mounting surface of the plate. I’m not an engineer but I suspect the amount that this affects the sliders as a whole is negligible.

Here’s a picture showing the spacers on the backside of the forward mount.

ahh, this makes sense. thanks for the explanation, i'll also give BAMF a call. i suppose by adding same thickness spacers throughout the middle bolts should remove all gaps as well if this is the case.

They add those washers due to a raised portion on the third gen frame. The space between the washers allows for that area to not interfere with the slider mount ting plate . If you do buy them, I’d personally install as-is and not add additional washers to the rest. This would create a misalignment with the two holes under the frame.
FWIW, when I make bolt on sliders I use the same mounting plates for both second and third gens (without the washers). Torquing everything down at install closes any gaps at the forward mount.
