I just want to have a video made to end the debate and watch the carnage if both are pulling the one that maintains traction wins hands down.

The trade off is your 2GR generates more peak hp and because of it's shorter stroke can rev well pass the 5500 rpm red line that the tractor motor 1GR starts falling on it's face at.

I know sir, I was just trying to be funny. Clearly I failed.

Although full Otto cycle tuned 2GR puts the “lack of low end torque” argument to rest.

I'm pretty sure mini vans have a higher payload rating. 3.5 FTMFW.

The 1 and 2GR share the same 60° V and cylinder bore. The 500cc difference in displacement is in the stroke. When comparing similar engines, it's hard to compensate for the longer stroke that the 1GR has when talking about torque. There really isn't a NA "tune" that can overcome the laws of physics.

    True that!!
My lady actually laughs when I do that - in moderation. Not funny after an hour…..

I did find out I get in BIG trouble when I throw ice water on her in the shower.

    So many questions!

Which way is the wind blowing?

What is the surface they are on like?

    Is there a locker involved?

    Octane of fuel used?

Is there a slope or hill?

    What colours are the trucks?

    Is the A/C on?

Does one of them have an upgraded skewp hood?

I respectfully disagree though. Full Otto cycle tuned 2GR will run circles around 1 GR at low and high rpms. I’ve tested it a few times now.

Ok.....lets really set the bar for a contest.

Any Tacoma vs a JD 4066M compact tractor. Tractor only has 66 hp and weighs 4200 lbs.

    Any bets???

Gentlemen....its not about horsepower. It all depends on torque applied to the ground and traction.

With a tune plus the gearing of the 3rd generation (which was geared to compensate for the higher peak torque of the 2GR) perhaps a butt dyno might make it feel that way. But that doesn't mean the engine is generating more torque at the crank.

Now....beef it up, add a couple of metal snails....and there you go. Toyota did that a few years back with the LS500. Strengthen the block even more and throw in an electric motor and you have the new I-Force Max. That's 583 ft lbs of twist at 2000 rpm.

    Makes this Tacoma discussion.........quaint

Tractor. You can not beat the gear multiplication and torque out as a result. Also, the tractor exceeds the Tacomas towing limit.

If the tractor, at 4200 lbs, exceeds the towing limit, then so does the competing Tacoma..........

The other point is about TORQUE.
