Stock suspension height variance

Hello TW, It had just re-occurred to me that when I got my truck (2021 trdor DCSB) and when my buddy got his (2021 trdor DCLB) it noticed that his truck appeared taller but I originally dismissed it until we took a tape measure to it and found that his truck was indeed taller (same inflation of tires, same full tank of gas, no extra laden weight) by about 1 inch. This was when we were both stock. The CV axles on his truck also seem to be at an angle a bit more while mine are pretty much flat/straight.

Does the DCLB use a taller stock spring/different suspension? or do i have sagging springs already? Is it normal for tacomas to vary in height from the factory?

But seriously, our 2021 TRD OR DCSB (TJ build @TRD-Troll ;P ), looks taller than some around town; dunno.

Other than full tank of gas, MetalTech sliders and softopper (light) no extra weight.

Put a piece of painter tape across the hub to use as a guide.

 

Yes it is. I’ve measured mine twice within a week and have been off by 0.5”. It takes good lighting and practice.

In any case, a full 1” difference between two stock trucks seems like a lot, assuming we are not talking about a TRD Pro.

 

The leaf springs are the same for all trucks. A DCLB is heavier.

It's the same reason AC trucks sit higher than the rest.

 

Looking at the '16 service manual; amongst all models, there is about a 1/2" variance.

 

Is it heavy enough to make a 1” difference? Based on what little I know about the stock coil springs, it would about about 700lbs to squash the front by 1”.

If you have the model numbers of both, I can look up the difference on '16s.

Rear came out to 21.2 inch
center of hub to fender, calibrated eyeball

 

I believe 310 denotes a long bed...
There doesn't appear to be much difference.

 

According to Firestone when using their Ride-Rite air bags, park tacoma on level surface. Make sure tires are properly inflated and measure from where tire meets surface up to bottom of wheel well measuring up along the center of the wheel hub.
