Fox Shocks keep leaking

It definitely appears to be hose abrasion in the pic but its just where I rubbed off the dust with my finger. I was checking for rub. Hose is good but I might as well put some edge trim there too. I'll go give that hose fitting a teeny ugga in a bit. Thanks.

 

Do you have enough hose slack everytime it flexes? Maybe the hose is gwtting pulled at full lock?

 

Those are mounted on the rear...there's no hose flex.

 

Man, I tell you that hearing your story helps me choose a vendor. You can do allot of things right, but being a cheap company who does not stand by their product means I won't do business with them.

Hey guys, hoping y’all can help. Rear 2.0 is leaking here.

Any advice on why, less then a month old, and I’ve tried to tighten. Seems tight just don’t want to over do it. Please any help would be great!

 

They're leaking? Is the end of the crimp hitting on the top side of the shock bucket?

 

It doesn’t seem to be hitting. Yes leaking oil. Is leaking out at that “bolt” that goes into body of the shock.

 

Your braided hose, before the metal crimp, has hit the shock mounting bucket. That’s where your leak is.

The braided hose is damaged, and you can see where it has worn the paint off the shock mounting bucket.

 

It’s not leaking there. I can literally see it coming from body of shock beside fitting.

Bummer for OP and others with similar Fox issues. I looked into Fox when I did my front and rear shock upgrade and ultimately went a different direction - 6112/5160. 4 years later I have had zero issues. Shame on Fox for terrible customer service and product quality.

 

I was going with Fox, but reading all of this has me downgrading to Bilstein 5100’s just for reliability. I will give up performance for reliability I know, but am I wrong? It looks like the remote reservoir shocks on this truck are trouble no matter who makes them.

 

No company is without issues but I wouldnt be so quick to toss them aside. They are still one of the best shock companies out there but also the biggest. Given their rep I think we can give them the benefit of the doubt, they still use the highest quality parts and have the best internals on the market.

 

I blew out my 4600s and my buddy blew out his 5100s. Don't read too much into anecdotes on the internet. FOX is used as an OEM supplier for Toyota, Ford, and others for a reason. If people don't install them correctly, they will have problems with any shock.

 

You guys have really steered me away from getting anything with a remote reservoir. I would be so annoyed to deal with leaky rear shocks and the nightmare involved with getting them fixed under warranty. Especially now that everything is in short supply.

 

99% of the time, its the installers fault. Any performance shock needs to be rebuilt every ~20-30k miles for the average joe.

 

Well obviously yeah, the hose got smashed and it rotated/loosened the fitting going into the body or fucked the o-ring up.

 

I’ve never had that issue with the multiple blistein shocks I’ve had in the past. I’m still running the trd fox shocks on my pro. Not planning on upgrading to the 2.0 though because of this thread. I’ll rebuild my fox at 50-60k.
