I need someone with experience to do surf fishing...lol

I haven't fished since going with my dad in Long Beach, CA when I was a kid.

EDIT: I'm retired Air Force from Los Angeles--stationed here in 2006, bought first & only home and stayed. Love the TriState area and being close to beaches. Having four seasons is a plus. Also, this is small town compared to the metropolitan that is LA.

Current Army reserve. It's been a while since I've been fishing, let alone surf fishing, but if I recall correctly, the big stick helps get the yummy stuff out of the wet stuff

I haven't had any adventures here in Delaware other than Beach life...boogie board, surfboarding, body surfing...surf fishing, not so much.

    Cape Henlopen
    Dewey Beach
    Bethany Beach
    Rehoboth
    Indian River Inlet

There's a lot to do here in Delaware including Camping...Trap Pond State Park is a good spot.

Also, lots of ponds here...Killens Ponds being a good place to visit..

Bombay Hook is also a nice place for bird watching.

Indian River is my favorite spot! There's places at Cape Henlopen to drive on the beach but I have not done that yet.

    There's a camping ground at Indian River I wouldn't mind trying when I EVENTUALLY get a RTT. It's a bout a 43 mile hike one-way from Camden-Wyoming but I love it!

Two lane split highway with lots of out-of-staters flocking here to enjoy our beaches! This traffic is nothing compared to SoCal/LA traffic.

I did three years at Ramstein AB Germany and for the life of me, cannot understand why people stay in the fast lane!

DE State Troopers are busy during summer months flagging down MOSTLY out-of-staters. It's flat land here but I'm OK with that. Lots of country viewing which reminds me to check my speed with driver's making left turns on a split highway.

Well, I'm glad you like it.

The last time I was down that way camping, we ended up staying at the Holly Lakes camp site. Pretty alright kind of place. No RTT here; I have a Gazelle tent, absolutely love it, at least for camping near the truck. If I were off into the woods, it's definitely too damn heavy for that. May have to go camping down there one weekend next year, and hit up the beach!

I don't know how far you are from Richlands, NC but I'll be down that way around Thanksgiving. I bought a whole pig earlier this year, so I have a few frozen bricks of the freshest, locally made scrapple you can get your hands on. If you want, I could see about meeting up while I'm down

Maybe I didn't eat Scrapple from a proper restaurant...heck, I've tried black pudding in a proper English breakfast in England and loved it...just couldn't get into Scrapple.

That's a fair feeling to have. Maybe it hasn't been cooked right for you? My neighbor had said the same thing until I made him some at brunch. Slice it medium thickness, flour it on both sides, and cook it in a fry pan with a little oil until it's brown and crispy on both sides.

I work at Kent General in Dover and had it in the cafeteria. I bought a pre-made breakfast sandwich and thought it was sausage croissant and I spit it out!

Maybe because I was expecting it to taste like a sausage patty. In any case, I'm probably gonna anticipate it tasting horrible which is a shame because I want to like it.

    Yeah, you may be right!

Even though there are hospital staff who RAVE about "hospital scrapple", I can't get on board with them.

If I goto a family owned/small diner, I'll have to give it another try. Maybe the Amish market across the street from Kent General has some decent scrapple.

    Huh-hummmm,

I just looked up the "scrapple" and see this...

Scrapple, also known by the Pennsylvania Dutch name Pannhaas or “Balkenbrij”. "pan hare" in English., is traditionally a mush of pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal and wheat flour, often buckwheat flour, and spices.

    Are you kidding ME!!!

    This is what I preferred:

Black pudding is a distinct regional type of blood sausage originating in Great Britain and Ireland. It is made from pork or beef blood, with pork fat or beef suet, and a cereal, usually oatmeal, oat groats or barley groats.

Now, I never tried Haggis but I think I would go into that which a much more open mind.

Haggis, a Scottish dish consisting of a sheep's or calf's offal mixed with suet, oatmeal, and seasoning and boiled in a bag, traditionally one made from the animal's stomach.

Of the three you described, you really think Scrapple is the worst? Lol that Haggis sounds awful.

I like that Scrapple, at least, encourages the Native American practice of using every part of the animal

It just didn't taste nice...in my humble opinion.

The Black Pudding was great! I took one bite of that and came back for more.

As for the Haggis, my wife is Scottish so I would definitely try that KNOWING what Scrapple is made of now.
