FYI all you DMV folks, my Leatherneck Bro in law will be honored ahead of the puck drop tonight at the Red Wings @ Caps game tonight...not sure if I'll be able to get it down my way via firestick NBC sports app.

Figured since he's a self proclaimed USMC oxymoron, aka an Intel Marine , it also was appropriate!

Ok, please continue with the normal banter and shenanigans!

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Wish I could see it being a Wingnut and a Marine. I just missed Intel school in boot, so was almost an oxymoron as well.

yeah I might do this to knock out some of the other stuff. Welding in the rain is probably not a good idea

Thanks, but I live in southwest va so it would probably cost me more in gas haha

I thought for sure you’d be done before me. But your right… welding the the rain sounds awful.BAC49D64-AD9D-4729-8918-1A99AF2903D8.jpg
Is there anything that prevents a person from just cutting off the plate where the CM currently sits (in a relatively flat way) grinding off the lip that’s folded over from below. Then spot weld/hammer that plate back on once you cut back to your desired location?

Friday mornings and this particular saturday are my only free time in a while, so I haven't touched anything yet. During the week, I'm usually getting my ass handed to me with work, school, and marching band.

I'm really hoping most of the rain happens tonight so I can get to it tomorrow or Saturday morning. Hammering and cutting have a little more flexibility, since its not doing the zappy zappy in the wetty wetty

I'm sure we can get it down there. Worst case I can send it back with my son after Thanksgiving break.

Are you talking about this little curl up right here? Are you basically wondering if you can just cut a sliver out of the stock cab mount, hammer it back and reweld it?

That’s an option too, sounds like it might be easier but not give as much clearance.

I’m thinking cut off the plate like you normally would. Then with the help of a BFH and a grinder make the piece you cut off your new plate. Then weld that on versus cutting out your own plate/ordering one.

Ah, I gotcha. Speaking from experience, that's going to be more trouble than it's worth. BAMF plates are $18 shipped and will save you time and it will look cleaner vs having the other piece having the piss hammered out of it.
