I put up with my trucks shitty shifting, slow throttle response, vibration while downshifting and intermittent rough idling for 3200 miles before I found out about the KDMax tune. I got mine tuned and I absolutely recommend it to anyone. It's a completely different truck and still the best bang for the buck mod I've done to mine. You won't regret it.

For anyone who cares, I traded in my Tacoma today but flashed the regular octane “wife-tip in” tune from the previous premium fuel “wife-tip in” tune, before the 4 hour drive to the dealer. I personally like the “wife-tip in” tune as the throttle is not touchy and it feels like stock+. I felt no discernible difference in power. I did notice a tiny bit of ping at high rpms near redline, but nothing of real significance. Maybe on a hot summer day, it would have been different. I averaged 16.4mpg through a lot of hilly terrain (northern Pennsylvania). I think if I ran the premium tune, I may have possibly seen 1mpg better, or maybe not, but my truck has never been good on gas. With the heavy BFG KO2’s, horribly non-aerodynamic Prinsu rack, TRD Pro suspension, and stock gearing, the engine struggled to keep it at 75 when going up a steep hill. I usually saw between 14-15 in the city, and 16-17 on the highway. Knowing what I know now, I wish I flashed that tune a while back and saved some money on gas! I wish I had the money to keep both the Tacoma and the Tundra as I would have re-geared it and I’m sure it would have been a joy to drive with the KDMax tune! That tune alone made the decision to trade in a difficult one. If it weren’t for that tune, it would have been “good riddance!”. The guys who have developed that tune are killing it! Now if they would only make one for the Tundra!

Haven't been on this thread for a couple months, is there a tune for a supercharger yet?

I have the Magnuson, with aFe exhaust, from down pipe to tip. There's no exhaust leak, the o2 sensors are supposedly ok. I keep getting P0420 will the tune be able to help this?
    Thanks

Yes, the P0420 code can fixed with a tune.

Seat of the pants diagnostics, literally from the cab of a truck, to determine a detectable ping as not being of real significance sounds sketchy to me; an inaccurate diagnosis at best.

What a douche lol. An actual mechanic can tell a lot from the seat of the pants, hence the reason for “test drives”. You act like you’re out here running these trucks up on a dyno to compare numbers, yet I could say the same thing about you with your seat of the pants diagnosis about an “uptick in power at 3500rpms” and that it’s the “extra valves coming into play”. A TON of factory vehicle/tunes have ping at high rpms, the factory tune and even the OVTune 2.0 final I had previously can both be included in that.

Feeling an uptick in power is not the same as diagnosing the severity of possible engine damage if ignored. Its just my opinion.

I’m fairly certain KDMax is not putting out tunes that cause engine damage.

If pinging is occurring at high rpm, it is not something that I would conclude is insignificant and thus can be ignored, but I guess that is just me. I am not a mechanic so I didn't know that certain types or amounts of pinging is ok and can be ignored.

When going from stock tires to 33in MTs, has anyone noticed any downsides in bumping from SLT to LT?

It’s very slight and occurs in LOTS of vehicles running 87 pump gas. That’s why modern vehicles have knock sensors, to prevent engine damage.

Adding the heavier 33" MT's you will definitely feel the weight of the MT's. Bumping up to LT tip will definitely help get them 33's moving.

Stock, all ovt based tunes ping unless ignition and valve timing maps are adjusted.
Kclv values are dipping to -6 at steady 60-75% of the load( typical 60-70 mph cruising)
Once you clean up timing tables, you will have a flat line for Kclv at given speeds/loads.
