When I went to the dealership to bring my new truck home, someone started looking at my trade-in ('11 Xterra) while I was inside signing papers. I talked to her about it while I was there, she test drove it as soon as I left, and apparently she was back the next day to 'talk numbers.' I hope she bought it - she had me at "this would be great for hauling my kayaks."

It's the raptor lights and the hood scoop. They were paying you for the panty dropping factor

Neither did I. I saw a black one on the road the other day and had to look it up online to see exactly what the trim level consisted of. I guess it's a blacked out appearance package for the SR models? I wonder what they're charging for the last of these V8's? :burnrubber:

Looks like it has the same black out characteristic as the Tacoma SX. Didn’t know they had one either.

Order online on the Toyota site and have it delivered to local dealer - no idea why they don't run with
that model as an option. Hefty non-refundable deposit, perhaps at the local dealer to weed out what-not
and away we go. Wish I could have done that.

Would require a lot of infrastructure to get that up and running but I bet Toyota would increase sales across the board.

Get exactly what you want for the price listed, no muss no fuss.

It would require law changes in the state of Texas. It’s the reason Tesla can’t sell direct here.

    1) Public health physician here, working in two separate state jurisdictions. Most areas suspended testing for Influenza A/B, RSV and most other organisms on the bio fire array. There were definitely flu cases. We were not allowed to test for them due to an “overly burdened COVID testing volume.”

    2) Things are getting a little better from what I see. I’m back in the market for a Tacoma again and have found many dealerships getting allotments. Cast a wide net and you’ll find something. You might wait a few weeks, but you’ll get what you want.

Right I actually fact-checked myself and it turns out there were quite the many cases last year, and depending
on the journal somewhere in the 'hood of 62,000 deaths.

And yes, depending on location, there appears to be an influx, be it small, of Tacoma's showing up or soon-to-arrive. At this point
if I were in the market I suppose I'd go for the 2022 model unless you could get a deal ( as if ) on a 2021.

People around me ask me if I like mine, I say "No. I don't like it... I love it"

At first it could be horrible. It’s like starting a new business from the ground up with inexperienced personnel and you’d risk damaging a stellar reputation all for what? To compete against one small potatoes untested car company like Tesla?

I don’t think so. It may happen out of dire necessity, but I don’t think TOYOTA is there yet.
And Tesla is a great innovative tech company, no doubt. However, to make a vehicle work right it takes much more than an engine or propulsion mechanism. It’s about automotive engineering experience in all aspects that goes into making an automobile a safe fun thing to drive.

It takes finance, innovation, trial and error, failure, success, evolution, perfection, suppliers, sales & marketing, customer relations, feed back and lord only knows a million other things.

    The short story…

Went to my dealer for a visit and noticed that they did have a few more cars and trucks on the lot compared to 3 months ago when I bought mine. The salesman says they have been busy selling vehicles and have some coming every week. I thought was just saying that till I visited their FB and saw pics of new customers posing with the salesman picking up their vehicles.
Then I drove by a GM dealer and a few cars and trucks with signs saying 400 off. Went by the Dodge dealer and their lot is still pretty full but they are not offering those big incentives like they did before maybe this means they are not selling.
This must mean things are slowly changing.

Maybe. Dealers raising prices is slowing down purchasing. Maybe supply is better, maybe buyers are thinking harder before pulling the trigger. I'm pretty sure the primary reason my local Toyota dealership has some Tacoma inventory is because they chase off most buyers with minimum $5k markup.

It was an easy decision to buy new when the new car market prices were lagging used car prices. Folks who sold used then bought new in the middle of 2021 probably did pretty well for themselves. Now, one can hope to roughly break even if selling a used car.

I read an article last night that said Rental Car Agencies have now had to turn to Auctions too because they are having trouble getting new vehicles also..

My wife was hankering for a new Tacoma for me before all this was happening. I was wary as we had a few payments left
on the Forester. My 2012 MT Jeep Patriot was paid for and only had 49,000 miles on it I just didn't see why we needed a
new Truck, but she wanted to haul lumber and the kayaks and half-yards of gardening soil.

I hem-hawed around and after we paid the Forester I entertained her by looking and test driving and fell in love. At that time
there were still 40-50 on the lots but they wouldn't budge a dime on price. A few weeks later the lots were EMPTY and I started
lurking in this site and realized I better get while the gettin is good.

Found exactly what I wanted and took it for a test drive. Came home and realized the key was still in my back pocket. As I headed
back to give the dude the key back the wife handed me the checkbook and said don't come home without it.

At that time the list price was 33k and now the list on the exact model is upwards of $37~$40k and after checking for weeks after
buying none were to be had so I feel good about it. And my son will eventually be driving a great truck.

    She's always right....

I leased a new '19 SR5 for $36k and recently totaled it. Insurance gave me $44k (!) and my dealer just offered me a '22 version of the same exact truck for $38k.

I'm debating whether to pull the trigger or wait it out a few months...

Wait what out... for prices to go down ???
Do they ever go down ?

When grocery stores jack up prices because gas prices increase have you ever seen
the prices go down when gas goes down?...

During the height of the pandemic when nobody was driving and gas prices dropped like a rock...
did your grocery bill go down? Mine didn't.

    A bird in the hand - ... -
