The last Kuba Grande I had buy Acid was plugged. So pissed off! Waste of a $12 stick!

 

The last one of those I had, the wrapper was shit, crumbling apart. Probably the stores fault though.

 

A few years ago I got 10 of them for free at a Drew Estate event at a local Cigar shop.
Out of those 10, 4 of them were rejects. Two completely unraveled and two were completely plugged.

that said, the other 6 were absolutely perfect and a truly amazing smokes.

I'm having trouble with my cigars becoming dry. my hygrometer reads between 70-80 and I did the 'let it sit under a wrag soaked in distilled for a while' trick to calibrate it. I keep pulling some of my older sticks out and they are crispier than KFC.

I keep two shot glasses full of distilled, 2 humicare sticks and a gel puck in there.
Also a Boveda 80 pack.

 

What are you storing your sticks in? Digital or dial hygrometer?

Desktops usually don't seal good until you get into high end units and dial hygoneters are notorious for bring inaccurate. Cheap solution, I'd try tossing your sticks in a Tupperware container with a couple 65 or 70 rh bovedas

 

Use a digital one...
Dry cigars suck.

 

I'd hate to just not use this thing. Can I get a gasket or anything? It feels tight when I close it. It's a satisfying pressure feeling.

I'll have to look into that. Any recommended brand?
I still smoke them, I get my money's worth, but it's definitely not the most pleasant experience.

 

I have one from Amazon. My desktop humidor sucks as well. I have to re wet it once in a while. I will try the plastic container soon.

 

Mine stays Pay good around 70, but I throw three of the 60 gram 72% bóveda in there. I had a bitch of a time using gel sticks and pucks, they’re trash. Do the bóveda the 72% it works good in the desktop ones.

 

Tight wood fitment is the seal. Should make a swoosh sound when it closes . If it just clunks shut your kinda hosed. In a 50 count, you shouldn't need more than a boveda or 2 at most to hold rh.

 

The thing I discovered most about my desktop is the environment it’s in. In the summer time it stays in my closet, in the winter I put it in a box next to a heat vent. Cold dry air doesn’t let the water evaporate well.

Box is getting some changes, so it is also getting refinished, larger side doors and adding my RTT. Also redoing the suspension and axle.

 

Been a long week. And working weekends. This is much needed.
