Finally got around to completing this mod and it works perfectly! Great write up. Another reason to love the Gen 2!

Hey guys - the demand for these relays has really dropped off. There are 4 left and I'm considering not making any more. I've noticed that when this thread is active the orders pick up, so me just posting this might be all it takes to use up the last 4.

I just ordered your last relay. I'm excited to get it and do the mod. I wouldn't mind having a spare in case it went bad. How long do they usually last? I also had questions about the mod. When the locker is activated with the mod will the traction control be turned off or is that something you have to do manually? I have two different buttons. One has the picture of the vehicle slipping like traction control. The other one says A Trac. Can anyone tell me what the A Trac is and if I have to manually disable that when using 4x4 or lockers. I sure miss the older vehicles with solid front and rear axles and no traction control.

    - How long the relay will last? Give or take forever and a day. I ran a test to see how many times one of them would cycle before failing. It completed over 10 million cycles before the first glitch. You'll wear the locker out before the relay dies.

    - As far as the traction controls; I think it turns them off but I don't really know for sure. What I do know is when I put the truck 4wd I don't pay any attention to the other buttons. My most common use for this mod is getting out of my works parking structure when it snows. It's pretty steep and can be super slippery.

    - Solid axles are simply the best off road. I had a Jeep and it was much more capable off road than the Tacoma. But, it rode and drove like an old farm cart on the pavement.

That's good to hear about the relay. I started reading about the A-TRAC and from what I am gathering it can be used along with the lockers. People are saying it's the closest thing to having front and rear lockers when you have it engaged with the rear lockers. Apparently the TRD off road has 9 driving modes. This is what I found on the site.

I agree with how the Jeep's ride on the road. I had a 2016 jeep Wrangler Sahara 4 door and it had terrible body roll on the HWY. It also felt like I was fighting to keep it in my lane.

I wonder how #8 and running in 2WD-Lo would compare in actual driving/trails.
    Is 2WD-Lo considered Open?
    The front driveshaft doesn't rotate.

I'm thinking that open diff means your still in 4x4 but you don't have any kind of traction control. So if one front tire started spinning the other tire that wasn't spinning loses power because all of the power is sent to the tire that's spinning. I bet if you had the locker anytime mod and locked it in with the truck in 2 wheel drive with the A-TRAC on it would do pretty well. Apparently A-TRAC sense's a tire spinning and slows it down with brake control and sends power to the tire that isn't spinning. But I guess technically your front is considered open in 2wd because those wheels aren't going to start spinning. It's still a little confusing to me. There's too many options. I'm going to have fun figuring it out though.

I missed buying from etsy by 2 weeks. Any chance you are making more relay/diode combos?

The minimum order from my supplier is 10 relays, and it takes them 3 to 4 weeks to get here. If there is enough interest I can start a group order on the first post. If it gets to 5 people I'll place the order. I'll put your name on the group order list.
