I have a 2021 SR and would like to upgrade the head unit. What will go in with very little wiring (Plug and play preferably) keeping the stock wheel controls that has Sirius and is Android based?

Look for units that have the features you want then go look in the audio section to see if there's a thread on it.

There are no android units with Sirius, its simply not a option for any android. So your going to have to pick which one of those your going to give up.

I have a pioneer avic-8500nex refurb. Super nice and with idatalink maestro it retains most factory features. You can also get a sirus xm adapter for it

That was a member recommendation, and a good one. Crutchfield is precisely the answer.

Kenwood or Pioneer from Crutchfield, but inventory is limited worldwide on electronics and probably will be for the next year or two.

I've got the Kenwood DMX1057XR and could not be happier. With the Maestro unit, you retain all steering wheel controls and get even more info displayed on the head unit. Wireless Android Auto/Apple Car Play, screen mirroring, etc.

Quicksand with hood protector, color matching decals on tailgate latch, mudflaps, glovebox, and tailgate hitch cover.
Most I have seen out there, including crutchfield, have options or come with connections to work with all of your controls, such as steering wheel buttons and they also continue to display things such as ECO, etc. As far as Sirius, many come with the plugin device, which is how Sirius works, and usually a free 90-day trial, but if you already have Sirius, which you probably do, then simply unplug the sirius device from the OEM radio and plug it into the new radio you buy.

I do have Sirius and the steering controls are easy to get on 99% of the radios these days. I like the pioneer but it has some bad reviews. I think I may go with the Kenwood. I would like to see one installed first. I know I'd have to get the bigger bezel and I'm OK with it. Just getting ideas mostly.
    Thanks for the comment.

You're welcome! I had also somewhat thought about replacing my unit, as there are many things about it I don't like, such as the inability to delete ICONS. I can move around the icons such as AM FM CD AUX, etc, but the unit also comes with various icons that I do not use because they require me to connect to the internet to use them, such as Amazon, and some others I don't even know what they are, but they come on the display. I would also like to be able to somehow utilize a Garmin GPS system directly into the head unit, instead of the navigation that comes with it. I have the Premium, so it comes with it and I don't have to use my phone with it, but it is just not nearly as good as a Garmin GPS. Example, if I enter a destination, when I arrive there, it simply says "You have arrived at your destination", whereas, the Garmin says "You have arrived at your destination, ON THE RIGHT"! I can't tell you how many times I put in a destination, only to get there and it tells me I have arrived, but I don't know which side of the road it is! Annoying!

I use Google maps for GPS so Garmin isn't an issue for me. Google shows what side of the street unlike Waze. Annoying for me as well. I use the wifi in my truck since I need it for my laptop or iPad when I'm on a jobsite. For $200 a year unlimited it's cheap.
Still looking into adding oem options if wiring is there. I don't want to hack up the truck yet, I just got it less than a month ago lol.

Does anyone that has replaced the stock heading have panorama or surround cameras in their truck? What's the picture of the cameras like after install?

My factory setup started dropping phone calls after 2 minutes, and having other annoying Entune weirdness after a phone update earlier this year. The only real fix for that bs is a new head unit. I finally swapped my factory head unit out for an Alpine ILX-407 along with a KTA-450 power pack this week. This amp fits nicely behind this head unit because of the short depth- there’s no CD player. Makes for a very clean install. I purchased everything from Crutchfield at the beginning of September.

I swapped out all the factory speakers when I added sound deadening to the doors and back wall. The new head unit was the final piece of the puzzle. CarPlay is way better than Entune- I don’t know why Toyota even bothers with their own system at this point. On the ILX-407 CarPlay isn’t wireless, but after having all the issues with Entune via Bluetooth, I’m kind of enjoying not having to f with pairing my phone. You just plug the phone in via the usb in the console and you’re good to go. I still need to spend some time messing with settings and change the wallpaper, but this new Alpine unit has been great so far.

That looks like it may fit my bezel without needing to find a premium bezel. I like the clean oemish look! Good job!

It's funny. I originally felt the same way and had plans for a slightly smaller version, having wireless android auto, etc. However, by the time I went to get it from Crutchfield, it was out of stock. Being that I wanted to seize the moment before my wife changed her mind, I went with the larger version. The screen almost seemed too large at first, but you get used to it bey quickly. I absolutely love it now!
