Ya, I ended up seeing that. Somewhat expected, I suppose.

Side note, Binnington is wild lol. That guy cracks me up.

The Pens' offense has sputtered after a great start. It looks like the muckers and grinders have run out of luck. The word is Crosby may make his debut tonight and Carter may be back. That would be a start. They have to keep O'Connor in the line-up though.

We need a better goalie, and our starters back asap.

Not sure how we are already on the "our goalie sucks" thing. Jarry has been good. He faced like 55 breakaways and a penalty shot. He is probably the last guy I'd blame in that game. He has a .926sv% on the year. Ya, it's totally the goalie lol.

Crosby had a miserable game. That short handed goal was on him. The Power Play is impotent. Kapanen is just about invisible too.

Ya for sure. I thought the whole team played sloppy for most of the game. We had good cycles in the O-zone but no finish. But so many mistakes turned into odd-man breaks / breakaways. I agree that Kap, Zucker and Jake G really need to get going. Sid had a bad game, for sure. But he deserves some slack. That was a game Pens need to win. NJ w/o Hughes and Wood. Back up goalie etc. But they are getting healthy, so let's see what happens here with guys getting back in the line-up and guys playing where they are supposed to be.

I don’t have faith that Jarry can get the job done over the long haul. He seems a little improved this year, but still leaves me wanting more.

That's fair and you are not the only one who thinks that way. I personally think it's unfair to have that viewpoint. His stats in the regular season have been more than good enough. Sure he wasn't great in the Playoff series and he deserves some blame there. But that's his only real blemish on his whole body of work. And I firmly believe that had Desmith been available, that situation could've maybe calmed down. I think Jarry was maybe a bit rattled and needed to sit but Sulli wasn't going to throw Legace in there no matter what and that hurt the team, not having a 2nd guy to go to. I mean, the Islanders leaned on both of their goalies in the playoffs too. So it's ridiculous that half the city is going to take those couple playoff games and now think the guy can't play.

Not sure how many people are still following the sexual assault on Beach story in Chicago. While the optics in the mainstream media looks good behind the scenes it's fucking terrible. The Blackhawks are still fighting Beach in court, they are trying to not pay him a cent for attempting to silence his assault. The NHL is refusing questions in their press conferences from the reporters who first broke the story. Gary Bettman and Donald Fehr refuse to take any personal responsibility when they are ultimately where the NHLs systemic boys club system is anchored. I wasn't much into watching games this year to begin with but now I'm on full blown boycott. What a joke of a league.

Ya I've been following a little bit. It does seem like in some instances, the league is in damage control mode. Not saying it is right, but I am not shocked. But overall it is a bad look for the team and the league. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

When you put the pieces all together it appears the league and Blackhawks realized that 5 out of the 7 people involved in this case are no longer in the NHL and they only needed to kill off one coach to appear to be fixing the issue. They don't want to pay out the victim, they don't want anyone important to lose their job, and they don't want to take responsibility for creating the culture that caused this. Setup a 1-800 line, put in a couple of apologies, and walk away isn't good enough for what happened and how long it took to get a response.

Ya, and in reality Bettman didn't even apologize. He worded it something like "he's sorry that it happened." But just reading his statement it was almost worded in a way that removed him and the league of responsibility. It's weird, man. I think Fehr would probably be the biggest to blame, right? In a way, I feel like if the player goes to the NHLPA and no action was taken, then maybe the league just didn't take it serious or think it was legit? I dunno. Unless I am missing some details, I just don't understand how someone involved with NHLPA would not step up for that. And then it get's handled right then and there, or at least fight for something to happen. So it's almost like the NHLPA failed him and therefor the NHL as a league just brushed it off.

I saw a headline which read both Guerin and Lemieux are part of a lawsuit that has something to do with when Beach was in the Pens' minor league system. Given the facts, it is best to settle. After all, why would Lemieux want his name tarnished for some money?

The Beach incident although disgusting and infuriating is not the first nor will it be the last in professional sports. I’ll take the NHL over NBA NFL MLB any day.

Beach was never in the Pens system. It's a separate incident. 1 of the assistant coach's wife/gf was supposedly sexually assaulted by the former head coach in WBS. She told her husband and he reported it to higher ups. But I guess Guerin, Mario etc are defendants in the case because the team handled it poorly. Basically told them to keep quiet and handle it internally.

True, though I'll say Fluery was before the NHL (his assault was in the minors.)

I stopped following the NFL pre-covid when my work fantasy league died and I've never been a Basketball or Baseball guy.
