New to the Tacoma world - just put a $3k deposit down on a 2022 TRD Sport DCLB Army Green Auto in NJ. Price breakdown below:

    Vehicle base model $38,240.00

Total installed Packages & Accessories $1,882.00

Premium Audio + Mudguards + Carpet Mats

    Delivery processing / handling $1,215.00

    MSRP $41,337.00

    "Market value adjustment" $2000

    Tax Title Tags $4303.83

    OTD: $47,640.83

I feel like a bit of a sucker, but $2k over MSRP was the best I could negotiate in NJ. Unfortunately, my 2020 RAV4 Hybrid XLE was totaled after being rear ended at 70ish MPH. I need a new vehicle now, and the RAV4 Hybrids are just as, if not more in demand than the Tacoma's. Someone tell me I'm not getting ripped off too bad. I currently have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that I use to haul my surfboards to/from the beach regularly as well as a POS harbor freight trailer to/from the local dump. The plan is to sell the Jeep and leave the trailer at the dump next time I go. Trying to simplify my life right now as the girlfriend and I look to move on to the next phase of our lives. I'm gonna cry when I get rid of the Jeep but it's time to let go.

The good news is that insurance is paying me 34k for my RAV4 that I paid 30k for (they'll give me ~$36,400 with taxes when all is said and done). It should be higher but for some reason I chose to insure it for exactly $34k rather than market value - it's a mistake that'll cost me a thousand bucks or so but it's really not that big of a deal. Lesson learned for next time (choose market value rather than an agreed on amount unless it's a classic car). The rubicon is in rough shape but I should be able to get 8-10k for it. I bought it for $17.6k 11 years ago - it owe's me nothing. After closing my RAV4 balance (~$6k), I'll be paying ~9k for a new truck and simplifying my life. I hate monthly payments but with money so cheap I'll probably finance ~30k at ~2% interest.

I don't know why I typed all of this out - maybe it'll help someone else in a similar situation. I think I just want someone to tell me I'm doing the right thing ;).

A few things I'm going to miss from the RAV4:
    Heated Seats
LED Auto Lights (wtf toyota it's 2022..)
    Regenerative Breaking

I've already found some very helpful info on here but my heads still spinning from all of the lighting info. I think I'll just get a rust coating done for the frame and wait and see if I really need/want to dive into the headlights/heated seats upgrades. I'll pick up some husky mats as well.

    Dang dude!

I appreciate you typing all this out...living in NJ is EXPENSIVE!

People there in NJ must make enough salary to cover expenses...which is good.

Mine started out at $38,803 MSRP excluding TTL, and extended warranty in May 2021. I put $10K (altogether) in trade-in + $5K cash which made it tolerable for a 1.8% loan for 60 months. I plan on paying it off early with no penalty.

Enjoy your truck when it comes in!

This sounds like an incredible deal in the present market from what I understand.

FWIW, I think the tech package (at least the basic one) is worth the tag given that they include a lot of safety features that are standard on other vehicles as an option on the Tacoma with this package (Blind Spot Monitors, Parking Sonar...)

On a side-note, with the $700+ tech package, Toyota's in-cabin tech in the Tacoma 2021 still seems "run down" compared to a 2018 Mazda that I happened to drive. I can't set the blind spot monitors to beep when I turn on the blinkers (which I do like), and the adaptive cruise control doesn't handle stop-and-go traffic (but just disengages below 25--30mph). But hey, you don't buy a Tacoma for the in-console tech...

So I’ve been trying to make a deal with a dealer in another province on a 21 DCSB 6mt. They still have one left. Best deal I can get out of them is msrp and no doc fees. I can’t get them to budge, even after telling them I will wait for a 22 which is 1-2 weeks out. Doesn’t make sense to me.

    Nothing major yet.
I mean they aren’t budging because they won’t have any issues selling it to someone else for msrp.

Yup, this is expected in the present market. MSRP + no doc fees is about a $1000 better than what I got.

I know. That’s the crazy thing. The whole thing is crazy. I bought the wife a 21 Subaru Ascent from a friend of mine who a dealer principle that I’ve known since a kid. This was back in May. I phoned him said this is what I want. Ok 3k off anyone one on the lot and gave me 5k more then I paid for my 2020 f150 that was 8 months old. Fast forward to now and I was thinking maybe getting an outback wilderness if I can find a Tacoma. Back when I got the Ascent for the wife it was 2500 off any outback on the lot. Now it’s sorry no deals. Msrp only. He did tell me it’s going to get worse and will last for 2 yrs minimum acrosss all manufacturers.

Manufacturers hate having huge problems with the supply chains other then the chips. They can’t get certain colours of paint and next is tires. There’s a world wide rubber shortage right now too.

Actually got this one which is already allocated and will be here December 15th! MT lunar rock with tech package. Dude hooked me up big time. MSRP didn’t charge docing fee just 899 dealer fee. Actually total cost was 40,051 and change and asked him to take 100 off to get it below 40k and he did haha! Total bro. Also will match carmax on trade!

My Daughter just put a deposit on a 22 TRD Off Road. She had been put on a list. 2 days ago and the woman I spoke with called her, said there is 4 trucks coming in. She described them to my daughter and I and she chose the one she is most interested in. It won't be in for 28 days. Unfortunately my daughter and I live several hundred miles apart. I feel better after speaking with the woman working w/my daughter but still nervous she will get taken advantage of. The day of delivery, we will be zooming. She works full time in a Hospital as well as a full time student. She has been saving up for new. Definitely working w/ her so she will be more confident when speaking w/them. She has a good head on her shoulders. I'm excited for her for sure.

I wish we could get an off-road DCSB 6mt in Canada. But only a sport in a DCSB.

Oh man, lunar rock, my favorite color! I ended up getting the Army Green anyway because I was told that the market was tough that I had to make compromises; so I told myself "What's in a color? A Taco in any other color would look as sweet!". The Army Green is growing on me.

That was my other color choice that I actually put a deposit on! But it didn’t have an allocation so I preferred lunar rock vs army green if it meant it would come 2 months earlier.

Swear my dealer is teasing me as I haven’t seen a Black Limited at any deal near me for months. When I called a different dealership she said there were 9 in the country on lots. Someone must have ordered this one but funny seeing it a month before mine comes in.

It’s a bit comical when a dealer uses the term ‘rare’ for a new vehicle, especially if there are 9 on dealers lots, and obviously more inbound. Sought after? Hard to find? Desirable? Likely. Rare? Probably not so much. Definitely the only one on the planet with that VIN though!! Better boost, and justify that dealer markup :)

Haha true should just call all TRD Pros rare since there are many more SR5s and normal Off Roads made. Also very as looking around on my dealers site they have rare written on every 4Runner they are selling

5th gen 4Runners are not rare. Most days I see as many of them on the road as I do 3rd gen Tacomas.

They factory where Toyota builds them is still in existence.

Yep guess every config is rare to them. Only thing rare I can find about them is when they are under 50k as seems my dealer only gets limiters and TRD high trim models.
