Sir, what is wrong with you? I feel sorry for the vehicles you drive.

Tell me about it! I once took a sophisticated little asian model for a test drive; I quickly discovered it had stiff steering and hard braking. I don't go for stick driving (not that there is anything wrong with that) so I have avoided them ever since. I will say, not proud of this, but I was drinking a bit too much and should not have been driving.

Possibly. It is something no man wants to admit. My first ride, just a few decades ago, was a tight little sporty model. Put many miles on it, did all sorts of tricks. Then when I was away a friend took it for a spin, it blew a gasket and that was that. I might not be the driver I used to be but when I get into my current ride the steering is loose and the entire front end is just plain sloppy. Last time I took it for a ride I discerned a loose nut on the strut.

Halloween is coming up, maybe a good waxing and some Molly Maid or Traveling Nurse body wrap will breathe some new life into it. I will just have to overlook the plaintive squawking sounds.
Thanks for all the great advice.

A lot is wrong. Completely wrong.

Vehicles are just hunks of replaceable metal and plastic. Nothing to feel bad about? I do enjoy them though.

I took a long term lease on one, placed a hefty down payment and then decided to terminate the lease early. Buyout was expensive but there was no trade in value left after 14yrs.

I'd like to say I got my money's worth but the product really wasn't that well put together. Plus the ongoing maintenance costs of a ferrari, for what was really a ford fiesta sort of sucked.

IMO...Short term rentals pay off better in the long run

Not sure about that... I found it was reminiscent of a ponzi scam. More you put in, the less you got back

If it flies, floats or fornicates rent it. Like anything else rental rates are dependent on the condition of the merchandise.

We are just trying to help OP here. Giving him options and our own life experiences.

For some it was cheaper to keep their old trusty while others went Euro and enjoyed it for a while but left them bankrupt in the long run.

Then some folks (myself included) have old trusty reliable but don’t mind the occasional rental.

I am waiting to hear from the folks who have more than just their old daily drivers , but can also afford the latest models with bolt ons and all the fixings!

It really depends. More often than not the driver is a solid half of the problem. Some times the driver has done too much damage for things to be repaired. Preventative maintenance is cheaper than new frame, engine, and transmission. Though, on occasion it is all an issue with the ride.

Before one invests in potentially whiny accessories remember. Marriage in fact any long term monogamous relationships are, to paraphrase a famous document, of women, for women and by women.

Anything provided in such relationships can be obtained for much less on an as needed basis.

As a man who has been married for 12 years, I disagree. There is much that one cannot get for any price outside of a long-term relationship. But explaining the nature of that is like trying to explain the experience of sex to a virgin. Some things cannot be summed in transactional terms.

Romantic/sexual relationships (long or short term) are not required for a fulfilling life, so marriage is not for everyone. But, it certainly has a lot to offer a man.
