RSI Smart Cap

those lights look real nice, I ordered some cheap strip LEDs about a week ago, see how they turn out but if I don't like them I'll definitely be getting these

 

You could definitely make a set cheaper than these but having it already put together with good instalation instructions was just easier.

Nah I’m good was never my style- I got rid of a fiberglass cap so I was used to the cab 3rd brake not being visible. I guess I seen that pic of the see through window and got extra excited.

As for the canopy lights, I’ll figure something out but likely vleds, stealth and auto on open. I like to do my own wiring… so much so I have 5-10 unfinished wiring projects and just keep adding more to the list

 

Because it’s 2 wire instead of the 3 it’s supposed to be, I figure most people here aren’t checking them with their headlamps on. I’m not saying all of them are wrong, but that’s how mine was also. It’s not just a matter of wires being crossed, it’s a 3 wire harness on the truck and a 2 wire harness on the cap.

 

Still a simple enough fix- the green wire never got passed through (green is the running, blue the brake and then ground). 2 terminals (m/f) and seals with a 4-5” wire

 

Ha electricity / wiring is not in my forte..

I noticed most other trucks with toppers have the third light off apart from braking, normal cars too; my wife's Escape's third light only goes on for braking

Good enough for me.

 

The CHMSL is only supposed to illuminate when the brakes are applied. Just like the factory light on the back of the cab.

Maybe one day but for now keeping this place fully staffed is hard enough.

 

is it possible/easy to add the RSI drawer bin to either the Sport or the Adventure? Or is the drawer bin for their commercial line of caps only?


Looks like they advertise it in one of their Sport caps on their website, but I'm not positive.

 

All of the bins, drawer bin or standard to include the kitchen, fit all models; Sport, Adventure and Commercial. The only item that is designed specifically for the Commercial is the rear hatch security screen.

 

SmartCap is the first mod to catch the attention of a lady (...bug)



Wish I'd got the Adventure instead of the Sport, but still very happy with the cap.

 

why is that?

 

Adventure has opaque sides with molles. I only got the Sport because I figured the windows would improve visibility while driving, which they don't at all.

 

There are some rare situations when the window is actually functional. I turn about 270 to pull up to my mail box. Leaving at that angle, looking up the road I look through it. But otherwise, it’s purdy.
