Guilty as charged! But with 3 vehicles in the household that all run the same oil, and 2 of them put on 500 miles per week, it is not really overkill.

    Sorry, not correct.
The "w" viscosity is tested at 0*F (-18*C).
Its the other viscosity number that is tested at either 40*C or 100 *C

can you source that, the indications I am seeing is 0w has a value at -35 degrees C. Unfortunately J300 is paywalled and they want $90 for it. It is also a bit of a misnomer because although I made a misstatement in implying the cold weight was tested at 40 it is correct that at 40 our 0w oil is four times thicker then 20 is at 100 degrees C.

Not gonna supply you a source. You have GOOGLE just like I do.

Search for "winter oil viscosity test temperature"

I suspect your -35*C "value" comes from a chart to indicate the usable range of a multi-viscosity oil.

Your other claim about 0w @40*C has 4X viscosity as 20 @100*C does not plausible.

over four actually for Toyota 0w20 at 40degrees and 100 degrees. http://pqiadata.org/Toyota_0W20.html

as for not being willing to supply a source yourself that’s just because you are wrong and won’t admit it. You made the claim, buck up or shut up, if you are too lazy to back your shit up then keep your mouth shut.

My "shit" is correct. I offered you the path. If you are unwilling or unable, then there is little I can do. There is no need to hold your hand....I'm not your mother.

Have a nice weekend. Enjoy your mythconceptions about oil viscosity test temperatures.

0w16 had an issue due to a well being damaged this summer.

There may be some shortages but panic buying oil is fucking stupid.

I got the last 4 5qt jugs of 0w-20 full synthetic Valvoline from Lowes for $21 with my 5% discount using a Lowes card plus there's a $5 online rebate for each one. $16 for 5qts was a steal. I wish I had more storage space though.

Huh? Is there a specific well that gushes 0W16? Honest Question.

Toyota has oil wells that produce “Toyota Crude”?

    Poor wording.

Toyota branded 0w16 is produced from a well that was damaged.

I’m not trolling you here, as I find this very interesting. Can you forward me any link etc on this? I’ve never heard of this and want to read about it. I was under the impression most synthetic oil actually used Natural Gas as it’s base stock. Anyways…..if you got a link share it. Thank you.

The shelves were half empty last time I was in the section of my Walmart. I would bet they just weren't keeping them stocked up due to staffing.
