I’m skeptical of the ability to create a zero emission gasoline. I don’t doubt for a minute that the commitment is there to extract the natural gas from the Marcellus formation. There are 84,194 billion cubic feet of it below just waiting. This project is quietly marching on and has been for a long time. The PennEast pipeline was blocked by New Jersey in 2019 but was overturned by the US Supreme Court this past summer. The pipeline will carry nat gas from NE. Pa. to the ports in New Jersey and Delaware to be compressed into LNG (liquid natural gas). From there it will be loaded onto special ships and kept refrigerated and sold onto the foreign markets. People were up in arms about the water that would be used in the fracking process and that there would be no way of disposing of the contaminated water. People jump to conclusions and bitch about things and jump to the next “sky is falling” topic without looking back. If they had looked back, they would find that the water that is used in the fracking process is pumped back out of the wells and loaded on tankers. It is then taken to a facility in Standing Stone Twp. Along US. Route 6 where it is purified and returned to the Susquehanna River. A major byproduct of the purification process is Salt. The salt is packaged and sold as Pool and spa salt under the Clorox brand label. I’ve been hauling it out of that plant for the past 3 years. The environmental doomsayers have moved on from that are are worried about the transport of the gas these days. If you were to go into that area, you would never know that anything was going on because most of the sand trucks and water tankers move at night time. There are hundreds, if not thousands of wells that are capped and just waiting to be brought online. It is definitely coming and just a matter of time. All roadblocks have been steamrolled and the last stage is to build the infrastructure to handle the transfer and refinement. That’s where we are right now.
