I hate the way the innards of a pumpkin feels, still can't get used to it lol. Nasty. Paint sounds better

The big cushy 4Runner Wheelers bump stops lift up the front when I'm crawling over rocks without having a hard bump that I would experience with the stock bump stops.

With that, I have an additional inch of droop from the shocks and extended sway bar links. I get more controlled downward articulation when a wheel drops into a hole during a water crossing.

    upload_2021-10-30_10-27-48.jpg

Put some Timbren bump stops on the rear.

    upload_2021-10-30_10-32-10.jpg

Water crossings are deceiving and look like a boat that's floating over the waves.

In real life, these crossings are rough as hell because you are driving over a pile of rocks.

Always wondered about Timbren considering they're a good amount more than Durobumps.

With that said, the Durobumps are stupid soft -

I could only afford Timbren for the rear. I'm breaking the rules by using 4th gen 4Runner bumps on the front. LOL

You guys replace both bumpstops up front? Shit, that's over $800 for 6 bumpstops.

1st Gen Tacoma/3rd Gen 4Runner only replace the rear most bumpstop up front -

    Here's the rear -

I should cut the ones that sit in the coils; they're useless really.

A number of people will replace only two of the fronts and leave two of the stocks.

There is kind of a misconception that only two of the front are actually used because of the offset positions. The wear on the bumps shows that both are engaging at about the same time. It makes it handle a hell of a lot better if you like to get out and play ruff.

I could see that with your LCA's.

I don't think I've ever felt the stock fronts because it's always felt soft whenever I've landed or hit the front end.

Heck I don't think I've seen replacements for the front set anyway.

Rocks are beating the hell out of the lower control arms. Some of that is mud but a lot of where they get scraped.

No pics of the larger hits, but I've hit the rear arm mount several times on different outings.

These bolt on skids have held up well; once I have my own welder I'll weld on Eimkeith's kit -

    20210209_114927.jpg

I'll be relocating my rear shocks as well so I'll find a way to weld the lower mount that poses "less risk"

You mentioned your rear lower shock mounts being problematic didn't you?
