Just bought 3 pumpkins today for Halloween, the price was just insane. I feel like just carving them and keeping them in the freezer to reuse next year.

Pretty much doing the same here. Now my wife likes to go to the Dollar Tree store for her crafting addiction and that keeps her happy so I don't say a word! But other than that we are focused on the needs versus wants.

Well, I do remember 21% interest rates in the very early 80’s. Sure put water on inflation very quickly. Could you imagine even just 7% or 8% today.

Right - banks were paying 25% on deposits of 1 million or more. Can you imagine knocking down 25% with that kinda change?...

Not that long ago (20 years LOL) I dropped 40k into a bank that was opening up in town and they were offering 16% for a 6-month-CD.
    I jumped all over that.

Growing up I remember pass-book-savings accounts at 5%... I thought that was pretty lame but now they are offering what... .50% ?
High-yield is .60 ? LOL... Thank you no... I'm better off spending the money on something of value..

The craziness will swing up and down a bit and settle down - always does - and the world shall turn round-and-round for another
4-6 billion years... or until the Sun runs out of hydrogen.

I'm with you my friend. I called the carpenter and told him we're not doing the job this year,,, or maybe next.
I told everyone not to get me anything,,, cause they're not getting anything, other than a few nice dinners I'll have to over pay for or hunt for.

Start laying in the food. No need to panic buy. Just get a little each week. Plan on cooking the meal at home.

Our meal plan is to place the Turkey on the BBQ rotisserie. Stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed tatoes w/gravy, pecan & truffle pies. Pumpkin pie will be substituted for Pumpkin bread.

Remember, this holiday season. We want to get together with friends and family. Be aware....Covid is still a pandemic and will remain for a long time. Get your vax or mask up or stay away. Help keep all around you healthy.

We made the hard decision to tell our oldest daughter and her family NOT to visit us for the holiday. Reason: They refuse to get vax or mask up. I have yet to see my newest grand kids due to this mess.

After all my recent purchases this month for the truck, rci roof rack, westcott sliders, an appointment for a ceramic coat and (black Friday?) the westcott pro lift kit, I'm done buying stuff besides essentials and stock/crypto. Putting off a tonneau cover and bed rack till later. All house upgrades put off till the mortgage is paid. It isn't worth upgrading the house piecemeal anymore.

I'm probably not the only one who has had their belt tightened since COVID first hit the fan, and who, with no end to the current madness in sight, have just now begun to spend money.

I work tool and die at Toyota manufacturing facility. We have been wearhousing parts for several months. Toyota DOES NOT do that. It's against the companies business plan. This week we fired every machine back up full capacity and we were told to expect overtime through the end of they year. I can't say I know what's going on because I don't but Toyota is ramping back up production.

I had a 35% salary cut from March thru December 2020. Bonuses were not happening so I understand the belt tightening. This year is much different and next year is going to be better.

Two years ago, my contract ended. Came back to USA, Covid impact.......still looking for work in my field.

Many companies are looking, not many hiring in the Mechanical Engineering world. I think this will remain until the international manufacturing support restarts. Not many consumer goods are produced in the USA.

As a family the LOML is working, but our income is about 20% of previous combined income on contract.

Getting ready to say FU to the engineering world and look to a new career path in a Real Estate related field.

I agree but what if you could haggle 8-10% off that price? Helluva deal, no?

    Someone will pay it.

Even $51k seems outrageous. I'd be in a Lexus NX or RX for that money.
