And anyone else with non OEM tonneau.

What do you have and how do you like it?

I've had enough of the OEM one. Pieces keep coming off, weather stripping is shit.
Tired of the lack of access with only two parts actually opening.

And sick of now much water it lets in. It's at the point I just realized I actually have mold growing in my bed because it gets so wet but doesn't really dry from lack of air flow etc.

Need something new. I know none take stay bone dry but at this point pretty sure anything is better. Just opened tonneau to put stuff in and it may as well have been open all day with how much water is in

I have a Trifecta 2.0. I'm happy with it. Its kept the bed dry, even in the worst of storms it has been virtually bone dry. It seems reasonably durable. Its light and easy for one person to take off or put back on. Removal and re-installation only takes a minute or two. My only complaint is that 1/3 of the bed is covered when its folded open, it doesn't fold up parallel to the back window to allow use of the whole truck bed, and the plastic wing nuts that hold the cover down at the front of the bed can rub on the mounting clips on the bed rails if the anchors on the cover are not aligned straight down on the mounting clips.
Price of it varied a lot when I was looking, from as high as $750 plus tax. I got mine from the Cambridge Green and Ross for $500.

Happy with the result. Now I can actually see out the window at night :

Oh and I also finally got my Softopper....although I ordered a tan one and got a black one - still looks good though I think:

Have Undercover Ultra Flex. Does the same thing as a Bakflip but i prefer the mounting struts more than what bakflip does.
    8/10 will buy it again.

Never had issues over last 2 years/ winters with snow or rain. I keep rubber lubricated and spray it 3-4 times a year. Water gets in like any cover but never close to what you described. Got my at Action truck and auto in Hamilton/ stoney creek

My experience with Bakflip is it will end up leaking, it's only a matter of when. Others I have spoken to over the years that have had similar covers always say the same. I won't spend money on one again. If you don't wheel and its a pavement truck, it might last a bit longer but I think seals just degrade over time.
Don't know if I'm keeping a cap or going empty bed with a rack but certainly no cover for me.

I like the diamondback that Dax has but fuck that price hurts.

Not sure if I want a trifold again.
I have heard what you're saying from multiple people about the bakflip

I have a 300$ Tyger soft cover from Amazon, works for my uses, pretty good quality for the price. It let's a little bit of water in but not like you described.

I have the same Tyger one. Cheap and works well. Mine doesn’t let much water in. Nothing along the sides. Just at the front where the openings on the bed are and at the back where the tail gate shuts

3" lift. $10K in TRD options. Richie's semi-hidden bumper, and soon his Elka suspension

Picked up some Dual rims with 285 Toyo Open Country AT tires on them. Installed last night and took for a test drive. They ride pretty nice I didn't notice much difference in acceleration (mind you the roads were set) - tune likely helps with that.

Not interested in soft covers. Still want some security that you get with hard covers.

Really leaning towards diamond back depending on what they say back. I emailed them with a few questions.

And see when @3JOH22A says for his

Been running the Extang Encore for close to two years. Pictures and initial experience here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/goto/post?id=22366091#post-22366091

    Pros:
Lightest hard tonneau on the market based on my research. My 6' is lighter than @Shveet's 5'.
Doesn't reduce internal height. Accommodates 20L plastic Sceptre cans upright.
Opens in the front or back.
Can be removed in seconds without tools (rails stay in place). Taking the tonneau on and off repeatedly doesn't cause any position shift.
Slam latches front and rear are easy to use in the dark.

    Cons:
Mounting rails can shift backwards with vibration off-road. I resolved it completely with a couple of L-brackets modified from Canadian Tire.
Mounting rails are thin and got damaged during shipping. I emailed Extang with photos and they sent me replacement rails the following day.
The latch beam disbonded a bit from the rear panel after a month, but hasn't gotten worse and still works fine.
Minor leaks in the worst of rain. However, there's no preload squeezing the seals to the bedrails, so there's a lot of leakage against the pressurized water jets of a car wash.
Cannot fold up against the back of the cab. If you need the full bed, you have to remove the tonneau (though it takes just seconds).
The rear panel latch uses an exposed pull cord, which is susceptible to coat hanger attacks. I fabbed up two blocking plates to make this more difficult for thieves.

Installed some BD Pro ditch lights I had sitting around, not for road use.

The two switches have a slightly larger pin than the original red ones that come with the harness. I was considering trying to stretch out the clamp to fit around my switches instear of crimping a larger clamp on the wires. What do you guys think?

Still have to align the hood perfect after putting the brackets on, that's the hardest part.

You can just use side cutters to trim the contacts on the switch
