You guys need to get a couple Landcruisers with the F or 2f motors. 9 quarts each Oil change. My recycling place thinks I'm running a business..

Just went to 2 different dealerships today to get some oil, both said they did not have it in stock and had no idea when they would get any in. One told me they haven't had any in 2 months, only one they have available is if you get the oil change done at the service department. I wonder how much they marked it up, I did not wait to ask.

Yup. I only drive 8000km's a year, almost always 15km or more trips to avoid acids in the oil. The drained oil looks amber after a year in the engine. Oils and engines sure have come a long way. The sure isn't the situation with my otherwise perfect (apart from worn valve stem guides) 1991 Tercel, which pretty much changes its own oil, as I have to add a liter ever 1200 km's. Toyota engines from the late 80's /early 90's were...largely forgettable.

I couldn't find chainsaw bar oil yesterday at HD. They had engine oil for OPE but the HD person said right off the bat they "just weren't getting bar oil in". She didn't say "it should be on aisle..." or anything like that, so she sounded like she knew for sure they had no bar oil.

I got it at Ace though no prob. So, hit and miss I guess, huh? Maybe depends on what you want and where you want to buy.

My local Walmart usually has quite a bit of stuff, but it's hit or miss. Sometimes they might have something and the next week they might be out and some aisles do have significant bare sections. They definitely move a ton of inventory. Also, last week they had at least 6 semi trailers randomly parked in front of the store out in the parking lot. With the few employees they have I imagine they're too short staffed to unload all of them. They had oil. Not as much as usual and I didn't check the viscosity to see what exactly was available. Other automotive items like grease, break fluid, or brake cleaner were in very limited supply. It's probably sitting in one of those semi trailers.

They were even stocked with gallons of shell 30w heavy duty diesel motor oil. I rarely see that at auto parts stores.

I saw this thread a few days ago and decided if I found the right oil I would buy it and so I was at Costco in Plainfield today and they had everything almost fully stocked. I snagged 12qts of Mobil 1 full synthetic. They also had their house brand in the same varieties as Mobil and they even had diesel oil. Just need to get some filters and I'm good for a few months. I have a buddy who works at a local auto parts store and he said some of the different types have been a real challenge getting in.

Yeah there are two of them in my town both about 5miles or less away. I prefer to not go to those. The one about 12 or so miles north is actually much nicer, cleaner and even to other customers and employees aren't rude and ignorant.
