A lot of the Tacoma’s leave by ship to a sea port on the west coast then either go by rail to where Toyota has a regional port or by truck to regional port. Once at regional port they leave by rail or truck to destination. Ones by rail transferred to truck for final destination.

From someone I know who works at the port, the Mexico factory trucks them across the border to Port of San Diego where they are processed. For those of us in the PacNW they are then sent by train to the regional railhead (either Tacoma or Auburn i believe), then trucked to the dealer. Not sure why they use the term Vessel other than it is likely just a description of any large scale shipping vehicle vs a semi-truck.

I got lucky and my dealer had the 2022 TRD OR in lunar rock. Exactly what I wanted but I reached out 3 months before it was getting there. I didn't have to leave a deposit or anything.

    2022 Lunar Rock TRD OR
Early September: Started talking with several dealerships, figured out which ones were screwing around, initially wanted a 2021 Army Green TRD OR, but too many number games knocked me out of the hunt for a bit.
Late September: Some dealers started discussing 2022 allocations, I realized Lunar Rock was coming to the OR trim, that was what I wanted, and I could tolerate some (not all!) market adjustment.
Oct 1: Placed $500 deposit on 2022 Tacoma Off Road 4x4 DC SB AT in Lunar Rock allocated to salesman I wanted to work with, with firm OTD price.
Oct 11: Another dealer wanted to poach my business, but they weren't ultimately serious about free market price competition, I walked out, and status quo held.
Oct 14: Build completed & VIN updated to the real thing.
Oct 20: Took a closer look at the spec for the real VIN, and realized the accessories changed. Contacted my salesman & the price was reduced accordingly by about $1k based on the new accessory package. I wanted fewer 'port' add-ons anyway, so I came out for the better, I think.
Oct 26: Received ETA for truck arrival.
Oct 28 to Nov 1: Arrival window, anticipating a smooth closure as my salesman seems on point and has been excellent to work with.

Documenting the circus of add-ons and markups I've been told is a whole tale on its own . . . .

I love the idea that my Tacoma would be shipped to Tacoma!
I used to drive around the Port of Tacoma a couple of times a week to visit the local refinery.
The Hyundai lot along Marshall is huge.
Never saw any Toyotas though, maybe they are in another location at the port.

So I ordered my 2022 TRD OR premium (thought it was a 2021) from Jim Pattison Victoria July 12th. After 7 weeks of hearing nothing from my salesman I called and asked if there was any update. He said no and that he'll reach out. 4 more weeks goes by and I decide that if it makes it go any faster I'll add a color to my preference. So I called and updated him with that. He told me I was maybe looking at the end of January.

While visiting family in Nanaimo on October 13th I found out we have a mutual friend that works at Nanaimo Toyota so I put an order in through him (Oct 14) letting him know that if JP comes through with my truck first, they will get my business. He understood and agreed.

Yesterday I got a call from Nanaimo Toyota saying they have secured my truck and it will be her the beginning of January! Still feels so far away, but pretty excited.
Should I be canceling my order with JP now?

Just put down the $500 deposit on a '22 TRD ORDC 5AT w/ tech/premium/blackout pkg and TRD lift kit with custom grill. MGM wasn't my 1st choice but Toyota always phases out my favorite colors (1st cavalry blue, and now cement). Dealer said 3-5 months for custom orders but if something comes up sooner on allocation they would call. I guess they get notified of allocation every 3 weeks. They said TRD Pro could be 6-8 month wait!

Now I need to decide if I want to trade in my 2014 TRD OR or sell 3rd party. In Ohio you only pay tax on the sell price less trade in value, and they gave me a good offer on my trade in so might go that route.

Is the tires a re do of the goodyear all terrains? I like the extra side wall.

QUOTE="ADcraftworks, post: 26389873, member: 377372"]Have been trying to get a tacoma since June, wanted an allocation but walked away when my dealer upped the price and reneged on any deals and wanted way too much.
Went to a different dealer out of state and they got their allocation info for 2022's on september 17th and I immediately put a deposit down for it. Toyota wouldn't let them change features so I took what I could they had for a 2022 Lunar Rock TRD Offroad 4x4 with the led tech package but I had to also take the premium audio package, which I didn't want but I'm not going to complain about it.
I pick it up this weekend.

    TL;DR
    Allocation Date: September 17th 2021
    Build Date: October 1st/2nd 2021
Delivered to Dealer: October 16-18th 2021
    Pick Up: 10/23/21

I've tried for an allocation on a 22 Pro since I saw the new goodies that come on it. My dealer gets allocations every 2 weeks in North Georgia. They will try again tomorrow for me. Hope to have good news this month. Getting tired of driving the Tundra.

That truck definitely doesn't have the LED factory headlights/fogs and don't think it has premium based on the seat shadow in the back looks two-toned. Sure that's the same truck?
