I have "processed" a chunk of carpet with the mower deck before -- 100% agree what a p-i-a, had to drive partially up on the trailer and hack away at it with a utility knife.

Completely unrelated -- Ever notice that most dog tie out cables are green, kind of like the color of grass...
As quickly as the mower stalled you wouldn't think that the blades could have exposed so many thousands of cable strands.
That was a miserable 1/2 hour with diagonal cutting pliers.

Put in almost 60 hours this week at my farm, and almost done could not find any service wire, so I placed mule tape in elect conduit to pull wire on a later date.

I keep my eyes peeled for 3000 series Cubs. Shaft drive hydro, shaft driven deck, hydraulic power steering and deck lift, Kohler Command horizontal shaft engines and hydraulic expansion capabilities. This popped up on FB Marketplace 2hrs South of me in Checotah, OK.

The draw for me was the hydraulic lifted 3pt hitch and 60" deck. This thing is intact and only missing the left taillight. Even the 23 year old headlight lens is perfect. Paint by the footpads is not worn.

It has original Cub tires with minimal wear that are cracked and flat. I pulled this up my ATV ramp with 4 flats and no steering with a come along. Hauled it all in my 2017 Tacoma bed.

It is in non running condition. I paid less for it than you can buy a 3pt hitch so even if the engine and rear are busted I still came out like a bandit. Something happened to this tractor (or the owner) and it was parked in a barn with only 357 hrs on it. Originally cost someone over $8000.

Score! Looking forward to the story/pictures of it getting back to work!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Did you hook the come a long to the loops in the front of the box sides? I have wondered just how strong they were.

Thanks guys. Yep I pulled from them but they didn't appear happy about it. Creaked, the bed area bulged, and made cracking sounds but didn't rip out.

Lifted the deck up and pushed the truck out from under it just now. This 60" shaft-driven beast weighs well over 200lbs.

Someone posted a list showing this deck weighs 290lbs. Not surprised. I got the seat, rear hitch, gas tank, fender and floorpan off.

    Reserected from the dead.
I'd leave that hot mess in the back of the truck and head to the nearest coin wash. Leave that nasty shit for someone else!

Just looking at the pics I can smell rodent urine!

    Yuck!

I put on an N95 and a tarp behind my truck. Open topped trashcan at the tailgate. Used my air blower to blow 30lbs of crud off then hosed it down with purple degreaser and headed to the carwash. Purple degreaser saturated again when I got there. Hosed the varnish/gas tank out while I was at it.

Those hoses look nand brew! Holy cleaning!! Come on over any time.

I am amazed even that much (pounds!!) crud came off with air alone. That cleaner and the car wash did great. The thing just does not look that old??

Did I miss it?? What year was it made???

1998. This thing has a 2008 battery in it. I don't think it has ran in a decade and was stored in a barn out of the weather. With only 357hrs it is like a time machine.

Probably. The fuel line is harder than a preacher's prick.

That seems normal for regular aged fuel line.

The pictures make the hydraulic lines look like spring chickens.
