2.7 fuel

I just got my 1st taco.I have a 2.7,auto trans,4x4.I was wondering because its stock with 31/10.50 15r on it and want to know what kind of gas milage should i get.It is a 96.

 

I have the same setup only a 95 model. I get around 16 MPG (mostly city driving). The gas mileage I get doesn't make a whole lot of sense because my Tundra got better mileage driving the same route and has a V8 engine.

 

City... 15-16mpg.. I got 18.5mpg 150 out of 160 trips of 200 miles in less than 2 years.. I got 20.8 once

 

Glad to hear y'all are the same as me, I get about 15 around town, sometimes 18 when driving the interstate.

 

I was hoping for a little more MPG to compensate for the serious lack of power in the 2.7.
Mine is so slow I got passed by a smart car the other day. Not a good day.

 

Short hops with the engine/drivetrain are cold will give you the worst possible mileage. Many other factors will come into play like drivers attitude, driving style, fuel quality, maintenance, the way your machine is set up and instrumentation.

If you're happy with your mpg and your driving style, good for you. If your goals are to maximize the fuel mileage of the greatest truck in the world, start by reading. And then read some more. Places like this:

It sounds like a calibration problem. The calibration of *you*. The 2.7 has more horsepower than is unnecessary to fulfill any legitimate function in this size vehicle.

If your goal is 0 to 60 in 1.7 seconds, maybe the 2.7 is not a good choice for you. If you are looking for a hard-core engine that appears to follow the traditions of the legendary 20R, the 2.7 looks hard to beat.

I had originally written an encyclopedia in response, but it seemed too much like an attack in the opinion of several bystanders. Please accept this at face value -- a differing opinion.

Idk what i got in the city yet but i have some real rough tread.More like offroad tread and im gettin 20 on highway.Now i am goin to add a better air cleaner and see if it helps but i was jw

 

Hmm when I calculated it this summer I averaged about 23 MPG City/Hwy driving. Then I made the mistake of Str8 piping my exhaust and it went to about 16 MPG City/Hwy.

Needless to say I welded my Cat back on!
