There is something to living in the woods with a 500' driveway with some improvements might be up to a logging road.

I think Broke is a new word that to me means A budget.

So Ramen Noodles are a staple right there with the instant oatmeal.

Sometimes I get my wife to cook me some Ramen noodles, may be cheap but they are still good. Sometimes I cook some about 9 PM after we get the kids in the bed for a snack.

Very similar phenomenon happens in the precision rifle matches I go to.

Guy shows up with a gear list that would make SOCOM drool, and comes in DFL cuz he can't read the wind to save his life.

Meanwhile, one of the top PRS gas gunner dudes is rocking what most of even us normal folks would call a "budget" setup and is regularly clowning on people from the podium with 10x the gear cost invested.

Thanks but I can not handle Walmart in Person.

1 check out open of maybe 20 I never really counted with 50 people in line.

I have a hard time standing in line for anything

I paid Her to become my EX-Wife far to much money.

Though the peace and quiet was well worth it in the long run.

I stumbled across the chicken tortilla flavor cup noodle kind the other day. I think it moved into top spot for me.

To this day, I don't understand the thought process of 100 registers and 5 open. Every store I go to is the same. If you're only gonna have 5 lanes open, just make 5 lanes and use the rest for shelf space/incremental revenue or something.

As someone who works in manufacturing/production, it drives me up the wall at the bottleneck they create.

I can only think across all the stores the amount of impulse buying of all the junk while standing in line seems to make enough revenue to keep this practice in effect.

    Who knows.

From what I've talked to, it is largely a "because they don't show up for work" effect, and we as customers just accept that.

But I 100% agree that there has got to be literal millions made on the register trinket/snack shelves.

I ate hundreds of pounds of rice in my "young and really poor" days too.

I like rice - fills the belly and it is cheap, kind of a "bulkerizer" -- doesn't taste like much but makes whatever you dump it in bulky.

    Three stages of my life:
    1) Young and really poor with a cruddy job
    2) Had a fairly decent job but really cheap -- never forgot (1) above
    3) Retired and almost really poor again, kind of liking it -- except the poor part
