In 2016 and 2017 was available but extremely hard to find. Salesman stated I had to wait months to get one. Stopped with a friend to see another vehicle he was interested on and I saw a white 2017 brand new Taco with the aforementioned characteristics. My friend chickened out of the purchase of his Trd off rd and I walked out with a new truck ! 4 years later and 135,000 miles with zero problems she’s running like a champ ! How can I find how many were actually made in this configuration ? How many more access cab SR 4WD are out there ?

    Yeah
You're looking for build numbers of one of the most basic packages, in the most popular color, of the best selling small truck?
Good luck. That's a fleet config, there's literally thousands in that option setup, the only thing making it even slightly special is that it's 4wd & 5spd but still not rare or even worthy of a numbers list being compiled...

Having said that, it's a cool truck bud, don't let my response hurt your feelings any.

Quite honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the SR actually has the lowest sales figures of all Taco configurations. Even fleets don’t always buy the SR, and fleets certainly do not buy 5spd MT trucks, nor do they always buy 4x4, so OP has a point. The SR wasn’t even available in Canada, making the sales figure even lower.

I would hazard a guess the OP does have a very special truck of limited production. Very cool…..and super rare.

That a great combo and should be trouble free for many years, too bad they were only available in 2016 and 2017.

I guess further proving the OPs point. If it was so plentiful and popular, why on earth would Toyota discontinue it after two short years?

In my eyes it was the closest thing available to an older Toyota Truck, minimal extras with a 4 banger and a MT.

I agree. If I could afford two Tacoma’s I’d love to have one. 4cyl access cab / 5MT / 4x4. I think they came with a better gear ratio as well. Be a cool platform for a nice lightweight build. Put some 265/75/16s on it, a small lift and call it done. The perfect camping truck.

Great looking truck. What size tires? How are you liking the new coopers? Are they loud?

I was thinking the same thing, plus you could drive it for 20 years without issue.

I'm jealous. I like what I have, but if manuals were offered in an SR 4x4 double cab I would not have a TRD Off Road.

Thank you! I’m really liking the coopers. I went with stock trd off road size 265/70/16. They have a slight hum over 40 mph but nothing I can’t live with and honestly can’t even notice it any longer. Love the look of them also. Wet traction also seems great.

I have the 265/70/16 now. Coopers are great but I swap to hankook at and they’re way more quiet and forgiving !

Thank you!!! They’re oem flares off a trd off-road or a trd pro. Someone removed them from their brand new truck and added those hideous bushwacker flares and sold them on Craigslist to me for $100. I think they’re about $700 if you buy them from Toyota. Here’s the link on how to add them to non-flared SR trucks.

Bought mine new in 2016, took me 6 months to find one and by then I didn’t care what color. It’s my 3rd 4 cyl manual 4X4. 83,000 miles. I will keep it forever.

Here's the skinny on the axle/tranny ratios:
    upload_2015-8-17_19-47-54.jpg

Also, IIRC correctly the 4CYL was avail in Canada.. I remember being able to build it on the Toyota Canada Website. A guy I used to work with had a 3rd gen 2.7 M/T Access Cab.
