    I just saws this today.
Yeah they kinda trashed the tacoma as a POS. But think about it, it was the trusty backup that didn't fail at all. So really all i think they proved is there's no contest as to which would have made it alive. they knew that tocoma would and did.

The american version of this show sucks anyway. When you have your first episode show 2 of the hosts get smoked in a driving competition by a blind guy. Yup thats pretty bad i would never take any word from either of them. They can't drive and don't know shit about cars.

The show didn't piss me off I thought it was pretty cool that the TOYOTA was the back up plan for when the american trucks died.

But I do wonder how toyota feels about foust talking shit about the truck. Seeing as he is employed by them.

Holy shit man... some of you guys are just so stupid its beyond belief and it embarrases me that Tacoma owners are as dumb as some of you...

I wanted to start going point for point about how the show is making a joke and nt meant to be serious. How you cant find a $3000 Tundra thats made in the USA. That the fact the Dodge was so new was a kind of slight about how poor their resale value is, etc. But what is the point... all that and more is plainly obvious to anyone with an IQ over 80.

The show is pretty good if you take if for what it is......cheap entertainment. Hell, three dudes beat the shit out of various cars and trucks for a living. Sounds like fun to me.

Well mister devil-I find it embarrassing that you think that shit is funny-who the fuck do you think you are calling people stupid? Is you hero ricky gervais? You like his beard huh? I don't give a fuck if they meant it as a joke-I didn't see the HUMOR in it at all. Just because they "meant it as a joke" doesn't mean shit . So take your "I'm smarter than all you idiots" mentality and ....
EDIT-how is it "funny" to say that a Tacoma or any Toyota truck-the one that ALL OF US HERE OWN is the choice of muslim extremists who kill anyone that isn't muslim? How is that funny-it's not even dry humor! It's a slap to all Tacoma owners.

    Saw that episode.

My understanding is the Hilux was the name of the pickup trucks until Toyota renamed them in North America to the Tacoma in 1995.5.

Also if you listen, I don't recall a Toyota engine in the Hilux sounding that mean. While it seems a Toyota on the outside it's got an American heart!

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I caught that too. I'm guessing a SB Chevy conversion.

Yes, to go into further detail of what I was saying, the sponsorship issue was the biggest reason. It pretty much ruins the show. US car companies are a bunch of babies when it comes to this stuff...like when dodge refused to give top gear a challenger two seasons ago when they came here.

Because of this, that is why all american car shows are just a big compliment-fest...a boring all-positive review of boring cars.

I really like the show! Now I haven't seen the British version so I don't have anything to compare it to but I enjoy the light-hearted humor that accompanies watching cool cars go fast. If I could I would host the show in a second just because it looks like a good time, and I'm sure that's what those guys thought too. I guess different strokes for different folks.

You haven't seen the UK version yet? Which rock are you under? The original blows the U.S. version out of the water.

I'm going to try and clear some things up for you guys who thinks its a hilux its not and it has no V8 either just a V6. I knew the guy that owned the truck and have seen it many times. I will hopefully be putting pics of my winter run to kink glacier just went yesterday and it was scary but tons of fun I'm waiting on some pictures from a friend there were two other Toyota trucks with us that are equally bad ass like the one you've seen on top gear

    neglect, mostly.
honestly i thought it was the best episode of the series. Ive learned to quit comparing it to the british version and just watch it as a car show. . . a show with dumb hosts, but something to watch. And something to think about, yeah the uk version has done the indestructible yota test and drove the helix to the north pole, but generally they hate trucks. It's one of only 2 things i don't like about the uk version - they don't like trucks or anything off road (except for hammond) and they hate american muscle cars (except for hammond). . . So i just find it nice to see a show where they'll do something with trucks.

    1) union people would disagree with you. the individual parts are made over seas and then components are shipped and assembled here in the US. I love Toys and can't imagine having anything else. I only bring this up because my dad (union member and Toy owner) used to get nasty little messages left on his windshield when he brought the truck to a job site. Its the reason he sold his '94 P/U.

    2) Had a Dodge before, and a Chevy, and a Ford...well my ex did anyways. And what did those experiences leave me with? Love of Toys!!!

I saw that episode too and I don't think they even tried to push that Toy to its limit, they babied that thing like it was a Cadillac! I would say that the Chevy that 'won' the competition was in pretty sad shape...and the Toy was still completely road worthy!
