Been looking for a cheap exhaust system for a while now (<$400) Im looking for a much louder, deeper/meaner sound. Not sure if i should go with a full exhaust system or just a muffler with our without an exhaust pipe. I figure the muffler would be cheaper but i can’t find any good videos of loud mufflers on 3rd gens, any recommendations?

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Not sure if you find both cheap & meaner.
I had TRD Performance Exhaust on my '06 Gen 2 TRD OR. Loved the sound and not obnoxiously loud.
Have the same on my '21 TRD OR. It's loud on full throttle acceleration and otherwise quite mellow.
I went with this because it's an all-stainless steel system.
15 years & 127K miles on the '06 and was going strong when I sold it.

I put a Gibson exhaust on mine and am very happy with it, it definitely sounds a bit deeper than stock but at the end of the day, it's a V6 so can only do so much

Borla s-type cat back exhaust is quite nice. No drone at cruising speeds and nice growl when you step on it.

Its called the Gibson black elite (model 618814B), think the black just refers to the exhaust tip that came with it which has some kind of black cerakote style finish. Stainless steel, very easy to install (although I bought some different 2.5” band clamps for it to attach the two pieces, since I haven't had it welded yet which will be ideal). I bought it from someone on Amazon because I had a gift card, and it was right around $430. Not too bad, and I had heard good things about Gibson exhausts. Doesn't drone too loudly from within the cab on the highway, and is noticably "throatier" sounding at idle and acceleration. But like I said, it'll never be a V8 or diesel or something.
