No need. You are at top of the chute so you decide what and how much each kiddo receives

    @ColoradoTJ

My cousin has a beige 2009 Toyota RAV4, base model but 4WD; It's got some minor body damage, but it's got a clean title I'm pretty sure it only has like 85K miles miles on it! Yes, it is a base model, but a base model 2009 RAV4 and a base model 2009 Tacoma are far from the same thing; It has A/C, cruise control, intermittent wipers, power windows, power locks, and remote keyless entry!

My cousin recently bought a brand new RAV4 with the mid-level XLE trim, and wants the beige one gone; I texted his parents with an offer of $3,500, since it will cost about $1,500 to repair the body damage and at least another grand to install a backup camera and get the stereo where I want it. I estimated the mileage and typed in 90K on KBB; Current private party value is over $9K! I know we're family, but there's asking for a discount and then there's being insulting; I withdrew my offer...

    FUCK THIS ECONOMY!

My cousin is the second owner of the beige RAV4; My aunt and uncle (his parents) have a silver 2009 RAV4 Limited with considerably more miles on it (150K or so)...

KBB value on the silver one is lower than the beige one due to the silver one having considerably higher miles, but not by much; Book value on the silver one is almost $9K!

Those are not "buy as a winter beater to preserve the Tacoma" prices; Those are "Tacoma gets totaled and use the insurance money to pay cash for a replacement vehicle" prices!

    :annoyed:

Some of you may remember that last winter, I almost bought a 1984 Caprice wagon with working A/C for $1,500 for the purpose of taking it to a couple shows and then flipping it, until I found that it had a hole in the frame bigger than the one my truck has that's qualifying it for a frame replacement!

It's been a busy month, so that's why I'm responding to this now; Should I buy from KYB or from a third party retailer?

Okay, so the list of parts not getting replaced for free when the frame is swapped that I plan on paying to have replaced include...

    • Water pump
    • Shock absorbers
    • Upper control arms
    • Engine mounts...?

I know that in addition to the entire frame, the brake lines, fuel lines, and lower control arms in my truck will also be replaced as part of the recall; I have decided to pay for the replacement of the water pump, engine mounts (if not included in the frame replacement), and shock absorbers...

I still have a couple questions though...

    • Are new engine mounts and cab mounts/bushings included with the new frame?
    • Is there anything I'm missing that would be harder to access if the truck weren't being totally disassembled for a frame replacement?

I had the frame replaced on my 1st and 2nd gen tacoma,I had them replace more things on my 1st gen than the 2nd like rear bumper rear shocks stainless steel front brake hoses, they will leave the brake line that runs across the rear axle unless you tell them different. They told me they would rather put new parts on than pull the old ones off if possible,so anything thats attached to the frame and body that you can think of and can afford I would replace, plus i gave them the parts i wanted replaced i didn't go genuine Toyota and they didn't care. They get well paid from Toyota for those frame replacements, i was told they get 40hrs labor for a frame replacement and they probably have around 24 hrs in it if they have no problems and that was when these replacements were first started several yrs ago
