Hey everybody, is there a way to tell or site to visit to find out if my frame was replaced before I bought my new-to-me 2013 Tacoma? It has a bar code sticker on the frame that looks pretty fresh but I've noticed that on a lot of Tacomas around here. It looks like it was garage-kept by previous owner and has lived in Georgia all it's life (as far as I know) from the Carfax that came with it, but no mention of a new frame.

A VIN check on Toyota's site should show anything done at a dealership. You can set up an account for your truck.

Fresh sticker on a '13? I have both. Fl truck, never seen snow or driven on a beach. Odds are you are original.

Call your dealer and ask someone in service to check your VIN for you. The dealer I work at does for customers. Takes a minute or two at the most.

Thanks, I think I've looked at that site before but don't remember seeing any mention of frame replacement. I'll check again!

My 2012 is on the original frame and has a barcode sticker that looks new still.

Apparently they should have covered the entire frame in these stickers instead of the coating that was used.

If you didn't see anything, maybe it was never replaced, being from Georgia unless it was driven on the beach or lived next to the ocean, the chances of it being replaced in an area that doesn't use salt in the winter is very small.

This is what mine looks like on the toyota owners site. I had the frame replaced and the only mention of it is RR Frame at the bottom.

They put the rack bushings in when they replaced the frame.

The sad part is unless Toyota applied the stickers internally the same result would happen, as these frames are known to perforate from the inside out, but I agree with you on how poorly they were manufactured.

:) That's funny! Just what in the world are those stickers made of?

I finally got logged into Toyota's site after it saying it was temporarily down and went thru all the previous service records and didn't see anything referring to a frame change like member: devkurf posted so I guess I'm still riding on the original frame and it looks mighty clean under there like it's never been off road except for maybe a dirt road! Good for me!!:dancingbacon: Thanks Devkurf for showing me what to look for!

I don't know if they would have even written the frame replacement up if it wasn't for the bushing replacement. I used to think any service at the dealer was written up there, but I had my daughters Camry in for a bad transmission harness, and they didn't write anything up in the service history for that.

Geez! You'd think they should have to write-up everything that goes through the service dept.! Sounds like some lax policies they go by there.
