Few years ago a friend managed to hit 3 deer in a few weeks. Smashed her car on one, then one hit her in her dads car, so she stopped night driving. Well he managed to hit one while picking her up in a different car of his. No injuries just a pita

Fking deer - got no use for 'em.
I don't eat 'em so all they are to me is a disaster waiting to happen.

And they're stupid to boot - had one 'walk' into my P.O.S. Ford Taurus once while stopped at a 4-way.

Yea, stopped cold, damn thing just walked right into the car.

I hit a deer with my 2010 Tacoma once, though "hit" might be a bit of an overstatement...

It was back in October 2013 during my incredibly brief stint at Dunkin Donuts (less than month) and I was driving to work at like 6:45 in the morning; I was going like 40-45 MPH on a backroad, and Bambi and his family decided to strut across the road out of nowhere. I slammed on the brakes, the ABS did its job, and the impact was so minor that I didn't even feel it; However, this huge deer was knocked onto it's left side. The deer got back up and had scrambled off into the woods before I had my door all the way open; There was no damage whatsoever to my truck, and the deer didn't seem to have been injured, so I just got back in the truck drove to work. No harm, no foul

Smart risk management decision taking that damage waiver if it was rutting season.

if I hit a deer I want the venison... but also dont want the truck damage. I am pretty lucky my insurance covers animals and natural weather (trees/ hail) and vandalism with no deductible. My sisters window got smashed and she bought a salvage window not knowing they would cover it. they reimbursed her for that+ paid to get the single window retinted

My good friend (and former boss at the bar where I used to work) got a 1992-1995ish Buick LeSabre as a present from her grandpa when she turned 16; The car was at least a decade old when she got it, but it had low miles and was in incredibly good condition. My friend spent her teenage years in a small, rural Nebraska town and was driving along a country road at night when a deer ran out of nowhere and slammed into the side of her Buick; The deer lived, and the car was drivable (with no mechanical damage), but ended up getting totaled. She was pissed that the deer lived but a car she loved got written off!

South Dakota, 1960, brand new Mercedes diesel (180D) and a deer runs out in front. Dad got the car stopped just short of hitting the critter.

The deer looks at us and then KICKS the grill in! Dad was pissed!

You have USAA too? My coworker has Geico...

Also, I will also keep full coverage on my Tacoma, even if the actual cash value goes below five grand (It is currently worth more than double that thanks to the huge demand for used vehicles); Why? Earlier this year, another coworker bought a 1993 Mustang GT (Don't know if it was a GT for sure, but it was definitely a V8). He paid cash for the car and only had liability insurance to save money; Weeks after he bought it, the car suffered some sort of fuel delivery issue, caught fire, and burnt to the ground before his eyes. He escaped with no injuries, but there was nothing he could do and the car was destroyed; The lesson? Unless you are super wealthy and a vehicle is pocket change to you, keep comprehensive insurance coverage on it!

Years ago my son called me and said he had just hit a deer with his 20 year old POS Camry. . When I got there, it was clearly evident that the deer had hit him. It ran right into the rear quarter panel, bounced off and ran into the woods. He asked if we were going to fix the dent, to which I replied "learn to love that dent Son". :)

Sure did. And (cuz SD) it would fail to start if the temp got -10 or colder - religiously. So dad found out it would run on gasoline.
(The injector pump was such a type to allow that back then. Sure can't do that today, sadly.)

A deer ran into the side of my friend Doug's 2011 Nissan Altima like two years ago; It smashed out one of rear passenger windows, but amazingly did not cause any body damage to the car. It was the most incredible thing I'd ever seen; The window was just knocked right out of the frame, intact, and landed on the backseat. My friend had the shit scared out of him, but was not injured; Insurance paid to replace the window and there was no deductible.

Realized I could be off a year or two. No doubt it was before 1964 because we went overseas that year. So admittedly, it could have easily been '61 or '62. But I think the 190D came out in '63 and our 180D was brand new so that should rule out '63 (could be wrong about when the 190 came out tho).

I hate Subaru as a company. I sued them using the M-M Act. They paid big. But... my other deer story involves a Subaru Justy. A bitty 3 cylinder transverse engine. I hit a deer at about 50 mph (in MN). If the sucker would have just jumped, I could have passed under him. But he didn't and I hit from center to pax side. He died.
The car stayed running, so I tuned around and went back to house to change cars and still get to work.
At the end of the day, when I got home and opened the mangled hood; I found that one spark plug was busted in half and another spark plug wire was cut in half. I made it home (5 miles) on one cylinder! I was impressed!

The M-M act? Also, was the Justy totaled?
