    Agreed.

I wouldn't be surprised if Magnuson wanted to move product that was otherwise just sitting collecting dust, so once they'd gained tune access, they likely just focused on making safe power that met CARB requirements and left it alone, rather than further diving down the rabbit hole refining shift logic as well.

The problem with shortening the tubes is you need to shorten the end for the airbox as the other side has a vacuum barb in it for the pcv system.

Question for anyone with a SC and a hybrid bumper with winch- or is this even doable?
I am waiting on my SC to come, in the meantime, I’m installing a Cbi hybrid bumper on the front with a smittybilt 10k synthetic line winch. Should I ditch the winch, since it won’t fit it seems due to the SC pump mount location.
    Advice please!

Keep the winch. I have a winch bumper. I had to move the pump over about 4”, but it works. You’ll also want to extend the hose. I initially didn’t, but ended up extending it later because it looked a little tight. Magnuson talks about moving the pump in the Tacoma beast install vid (go to 10:48 into the vid).

My buddy Ed helped me install this thing yesterday. 7-8 hours? Gonna call bullshit on that one. Maybe on a brand new Tacoma with two experienced installers cutting half the instructions out. The instructions were very well done. We ran into issues getting the crank pulley off, (pulley holder bolts bent, had to bump start with breaker bar resting on frame… fyi Toyota engine rotates clockwise facing the crank pulley from the front), torquing the crank pulley down, etc. The total time was 15 hours. This includes draining the oil, changing the filter, draining coolant, removing the radiator, (to get an impact onto the crank pulley which ended up failing anyway), changing spark plugs, (bitch to get some of the coil packs out), cleaning some sludge out of the runners under the lower intake manifold, (catch can highly recommended), filling oil, filling coolant, burping the system at the end. There are definitely steps in that 260+ step install manual that I think folks are omitting when they say 7-8 hours install time. Anyways, had a blast! Not quite sure why folks complain about the power bump. It’s definitely an improvement over stock.

It would be nice if someone made a “TRD PRO” badge with a subtle “supercharged” on it. Something that most people miss at first glance.

No it really took me about 8 hours mostly alone to do it. I had a friend read me instructions for a couple hours. I did not bother with cleaning the intake, changing the spark plugs, or removing the radiator. The spark plug I checked still looked brand new at 35k ish miles so I ignored that step. I also have many many helpful tools I’ve gathered from doing a full restoration and race car building. Electric socket wrenches are the bees knees.

Much respect to you if that is indeed true. Speaks volumes regarding your experience and mechanical skills.

I read the manual twice in anticipation for the install. Having it on a 2 post lift with the wheels removed so I could get the truck closer to the ground helped.

That would have been nice. I made a little 1.5’ tall x 4’ wide wooden stool out of 2x12 lumber. It worked well, but I was still quite sore from leaning in the bay.

I was still sore and I used a combination of platform and ladder to get into a more comfortable position. It’s a lot of time spent bent over the engine.

I’m curious if you installed the 87mm pulley? From what I remember from earlier post you were going to install the 87mm pulley right off the bat.

That was the plan. The pulley was ordered when I ordered the supercharger. Unfortunately ETA is November per Magnuson. Doesn’t really matter. Will strap this to the dyno on Tuesday and when the pulley eventually gets here will swap the pulley and do another dyno run. The baseline dyno run without the supercharger on OV Tune 2.0 was done on Friday. Attached below.

Pulled the restrictor out of the bypass valve today. My review is summarized in the pic below but in a nutshell… hello partial throttle torque down low!

    :burnrubber:

What I don’t get is this… The whole purpose of the bypass valve is to delay the onset of boost. It’s already delayed with the bladder valve functioning properly. My 3.4L had a malfunctioning bypass valve on the TRD and it would hit peak boost immediately 0-7 psi instantly. Driving around town like that is impractical. However this bypass valve works just fine so… Not sure why Magnuson would put a pretty significant restriction on top of an already effective existing restriction. My best guess is to further retain MPG’s during partial throttle. Sorry… that lame shit definitely needs to go!

A/T trucks can have a real harsh engagement with them removed.

Well as promised, strapped to the dyno. Suspect bad gas so will need a rematch.
