Which OS are you going to run? I'm thinking about turning my 5800X into a server and grabbing an Intel 12th Gen processor. You know me.

My first card was a Voodoo 2. Then some ATi card once 3D really took off. Then a 8800GT, two 6850s in crossfire, the 680, R9 290, 1070, 2080, 2080Ti, 3090, and now I have a 6900XT on order. Selling the 3090 because someone is giving me $3K for it with the water block on it.

I have a 8800GT. I think it actually performed slightly better than the 9800GT I also have.

Well a ton of the 8000, 9000, and 200 series cards use the same GPU with slight modifications. nVidia got lazy for a few years and had the absolute most shit show product stack. If a company tried to do that now they'd get absolutely pooped on.

Running TrueNAS currently, gonna keep it on that.
I just put my 5800X and B550 board into my wife's computer so her old stuff is potentially going to the NAS..

Not going to lie, I have a block leak on my water cooled rig. Pretty ticked so may start over and regulate it to server duty.

    Yeah.
I had a 2600G and other parts laying around, so I picked up a case and some drives to build a new place to back up files (mostly photos and music). I installed Unraid on it, and set up a pi-hole Docker container to block ads. My wife calls it the "cock blocker" since she plays "free" games that want her to see ads, lol. Amazing how much traffic gets blocked and how "clean" web pages look now.

My WD NAS is no longer going to be supported, so I may pull the drive out of that and put it in this box. Or not, it's pretty old. Box runs great and stable, although I need to turn on virtualization in the BIOS so I can run VM's on it, right now I can only run containers because I forgot to modify that setting.

No problem. I appreciate you not scalping it. If I didn’t have a fiancé that would murder me if I bought another card and a 3060ti a month ago I’d be all over it haha

Alright thanks, I really want my buddy to buy it as he's been bitching about his frames in Warzone for the last year to me. Now that a great deal is infront of him he chickens out of course...

if you hold it for 6 months I'll buy it haha (but for real). Built my first comp a couple months ago. Went with 5600G APU due to prices of GPUs. Made a deal with the treasurer (my wife) I would sit 6 months and see what prices do on GPUs before getting one; I refuse to pay stupid prices (not that yours is)

Supply is supposed to increase in 2023 but pricing won't come down. Maybe 2025 inflation will catch up?

I was wondering what the market was going to look like...I mean they know people will pay the money so from their standpoint..why reduce it? I get that, but dont like it.

I figured about a year-ish after I built the comp, either prices would come down or the new norm would be established and it just is what it is....(unless I could snag a 3070 for 600 haha)

Yeah you're bang on in your assessment, unfortunately. MSRPs don't tend to go down in this space unless supply is excessive. We are seeing record high interest in PC gaming and record low supply. With the continuing momentum of decent games entering the space and people staying interested I don't see the demand dropping that much for a while. There's just no reason to lower pricing even as supply catches up sometime in 2023.

You'll find something. Even the 3060Ti is a rock solid card and not far behind the 3070. I'd also throw the 6700XT into the running. If you don't need DLSS or the nVidia toolkit one thing I've noticed is the AMD cards this gen being really rock solid. I've had 3090 driver issues as have others and nVidia has had more dead cards than normal. AMD is actually ahead in quality IMHO right now.

One wild card is Intel. Their first gen of real Xe based cards could be amazing, 3080 level performance is the rumor. Unfortunately at launch they are using TSMC to build GPUs, which means supply will also be poop.

Been playing the shit out of BF 1942. Then moved on to the Desert Combat mod for it.
Now i've moved on to BF 2. All just playing bots.

For BF 2 (which I think maybe one of my favs)
I have a bot mod for 128 players, all weapon unlock mod and 16/32/64 maps mod.
Good times!!!! I can play commander/infantry and with bots on expert, its near impossible to beat.
