I just put a set of these on my truck. https://www.okexpedition.ca/2016current-toyota-tacoma

Aluminum, well built, nicely welded and finished. I rattle canned mine black. I was able to score a full set off someone in a distress sale. I'm intending for some light wheeling and off-road use, time at the cottage hauling stuff, getting into the fields to grab fire wood etc. Your American $ goes far up here in Canada, these might be worth looking at, I don't know if they ship to the US but they respond super quick to email. A Toyota dealer in town wanted $650 + tax. for a TRD skid plate.

Some dealerships are having some good discounts on products. In Raleigh a pro skid plate is 402$

edit: and free shipping up to 200$

The red letters are just inserts than can be easily removed. However, there will still be “TRD” imprints/recesses/pockets in the skid plate where the letters were.

Wondering why some skid plates have the TRD in red bold lettering but mine doesn't, mines just the indentation.

Little of this, little of that.
I’m fine with the recessed letters, it’s much less blaring than big red letters.

I can vouch for @Trah 's recommendation. I watched him start his process.

^^$200 on craigslist. (Homie was selling it because of the same mentioned "not compatible with the he was putting on his taco") I figure at that price, while doing my build with out going into debt for shinny things, it's disposable.

of corse the only damage I have received^^ on Ninja missions in the Sierra were just aft of the stock plates before I bought the Pro guard.

Hey are there lifts that are compatible with the TRDPRO plate.

There are near identical after market ones for $200 that don't have TRD stamped into it. I have an SR5 and I'm personally fine with the TRD stamps..skid plate is on my to do list lol

They are, but you will need to get an additional hardware kit from RCI. The stock bolts are not long enough.

I'm content with my cheap black OR plate. Definably thinner then the Pro, but does the job...

Looks boss, but is heavy and expensive. I really wanted one and rushed into it but if I had to do it again, I probably would have saved the money

How does the skid plate allow for easier access to the oil filter? Isn't it the same level of difficulty?

Late to the game, but Tuffskinz turbo silver inserts solve that issue, if yours has letters / holes. I ordered mine hopping to get the debossed plate and got the one with the red letters.

Instead of dropping the entire skid plate, and wrestling it back on when finished, you just remove 4 small screws and remove the little access panel with 1 hand.

I stumbled across this thread. I have been considering replacing my silly looking chinstrap with a TRD skid plate. Holy CRAP! I guess I did not realize how freaking expensive these bad boys are. The cheapest one I could find was $354.25:
    https://www.oempartsource.com/oem-parts/toyota-2016-2020-tacoma-trd-skid-plate-front-silver-ptr6035190?origin=pla&msclkid=fdfb126c54e416147def73ed803bd4d7

    I
mean, Dang man! I can almost buy a whole set of wheels for my truck for that money.
Guess need to think this through a little bit.

Yeah, you are right. Maybe I was exaggerating a little bit. But I can at least get two wheels for that money :spending:
