Before synthetic oil became the norm I used to change my oil twice a year and spark plugs once a year. Now spark plugs maybe 4 years or whenever needed and oil every 8k and the oil companies are not happy with it as synthetic as cut into their profits or not.I know synthetic oil is still oil or am I wrong. Interesting to hear from you guys without any bashing please.

    You can rest assured.

The Oil companies are making a profit on the synthetic oil.

Synthetic oil is still oil and is simply modified. It costs more so I doubt any profits are being lost. Most oil and gas companies simply produce the stuff and sell it and someone else takes that product and refines it into thousands of every day items.

Right now O&G companies are making big revenues due to sky rocketing prices of oil and especially natural gas. Natural gas has gone up over 150% in price recently. It just shows that demand for this is still huge and you can't simply move away from it instantly and not invest into it and expect not to pay through the nose when demand outstrips supply.
