This one's a little tricky.
Anything I say here is bound to be misunderstood by someone.

It's not my job to make Mrs Gritto happy...nor hers to make me happy.
We're responsible adults who try to be decent, affectionate and supportive to each other.
Unselfish, in a word.
But you can't "make" someone happy.
Your happiness (or otherwise) is mainly up to you.

I've said before that a man should never put a woman on a pedestal, and I was serious.
That's stupid and will store up trouble for both parties.
Too many men do that.
It forestalls genuine cooperation.
Besides which, it's unfair to the woman as an individual.

Conversely, if a wife is unhappy and blames it all on her husband...that's rather infantile on her part.
I've seen friends who are decent guys be on the receiving end of that.

Sorry about your failed marriages.
Assuming you're a decent guy (and most men actually are)...
...well, perhaps you chose poorly.
