That sounds bad. If you continue to drive it, it could cause more damage. Call the shop. Tell them it's knocking. Do they want you to drive it, or do they want to pay for a tow.

Well I'd see that as good. 'Cause you can check on them along the way....

I think the clutch is rubbing the pulley or the field coil behind the pulley is touching the pulley. No need for a tow, IMO. Worst case it gets a new oem compressor but we will see

My guess, the ring clip on the stator popped off, the short was from the wires on the stator being pulled or rubbing on the pully, the noise is loose stator. Look behind the pully at the red and black wires.

If the clutch was rubbing on the pully, when dissengaged the clutch would still turn. Run it for a few minutes, shut it off. Touch the front of the compressor. If the clutch isn't disengaging it will be HOT!!!!

Clip popped off as predicted. Truck has been running for half an hour in the shop and so far so good

Good to hear that you got it figured out, to be on the safe side, I'd get a flashlight and check the wires just to make sure they are not damaged. Could cause a short later, or even a small cut in the insulation could cause enough of a minimal short to drain the battery, but not enough to blow a fuse. 5 mins of your time could save you a headache later :)

Thanks for the help! I’ll take a look at it tomorrow afternoon if I get a chance after work. Not driving the truck until the weekend

Hi have same issue now. I noticed windows, AC not working; abs, brake and traction control lights on. Couple mins later, tire pressure light and check engine lights turned (my dash looks like a christmas tree). Took it to autozone and the tool indicates abs wheel speed sensor only. Prior to today, a couple days ago, I replaced ignition switch. Problem was solved immediately….unfortunately, problem came back today. Prior to today, I had no check engine light.

Have you checked all the fuses for power on both sides? IG1, IG1 No2, IGN, or ECU-B fuses would be suspect as they feed all those systems, also check the short pin in the underhood fuse box as they had a problem with sometimes losing connection.
Could also be a defective ignition switch with the shitty quality of parts these days.

Having the same issues.. no thermostat, RPM, or speedometer gages. Windows also won't roll down, heater & AC don't work. Did they ever diagnose your issue?? I checked the fuse box & the #9 fuse was halfway pushed out still good. Replaced it & still having issues.
