Huh. How about that. There I go spreading more BS on the forum again. Ha

I agree it's likely the lug nuts then. I can't see anything else that would necessitate a max speed limit.

I would still drive the spare at any speed though. Again.... Because I'm wild.

I leave it in the garage along with the rest of the crap in my bed.

Not great information in this context.

OP, I would drive it rather than wait, but I don’t think anyone on this forum can quantify the risk. I run a 5 tire rotation so I don’t need to worry about it.

Why would anyone be so cheap that they don't have matching spare tire (diameter wise) for their truck?

There is no logical excuse to move to taller tires and not upgrade the spare tire well. It could be a new tire, good used tire, different brand, and on a matching rim or not.

Is it a matter of spending all the fun money to make the truck "look cool" instead of saving a bit of it and doing the spare right?

Come on guys, we're better than that. o_O

You should never have 2 different size tires on the back, so you should have a same size spare therefore you made the right decision by waiting

Ive driven ~100 miles on a spare 30" when I had 33s. Didnt die. No different than doing a bunch of one wheel peels. The diff will survive the "extra" heat

Lesson playing out for the OP...to buy the 5th matching tire and have it fitted (stored) on the truck.

Like I mentioned before, when the time comes (after I put 50-60K miles on my new tires), if I decide to upgrade wheels--buy 5 wheels/rims and get a swing out spare tire holder on rear bumper.

Something to consider for the time being and learning from others the justification...and putting aside money to finance this upgrade.

i picked up a nail a few weeks back and had to use my spare so i could plug the tire, when i went up a size a few years back (265-75-16), i just bought a 5th tire to match and mounted it on the steel spare rim, no problem in the spare tire holder with a bigger size.
