Since you didn’t specify the issue with the ball joints I’m going to guess you’re referring to the torn ball joint boot? Depending on the age of the ball joints you can either order a reboot kit or just toss some new ball joints in. If your referring to the angle of the ball joints on the knuckle there isn’t much you can do. Your angles of the cvs and the ball joints lead me to believe you are at 3> inches of lift or you took the pictures with the truck jacked up. My truck is lifted 2.75 and my spc ball joints and other angles look nothing as severe as those.

He's referring to the fact the ball joint is rubbing against the spring. If you look closely at the boot, there's a semi-circle area worn out from contacting the spring.

My ball joints hitting my coil spring and it's ripping the boot open. I was doing some research some say get a longer spindle 4" but no makes that on a 4x4 truck only 2x4 now I may have to drop my truck to 3" it's on 3.5" lift. I bought this vertex rc with 3.5" lift. Thinking with my front heavy bumper will sag and bring the lift to 3". Before I purchase this suspension I had a 3" 5100 with 885 ome no problem with that. On that picture my truck wasn't lifted on a jack.

Why is the ball joint all the way in towards the coil over? On my spcs they are all the way out.

I noticed that too. I ask my local alignment shop they said if I move it out it will mess with the alignment.

This^^^ my ball joints are all the way out on the uca and I used the LCA to compensate for alignment. Attached is a old picture when I was doing wheel fitment. This is the type of coil clearance you should be expecting.

my alignment specs are 0 camber. 0 toe. 3.5-3.7 caster

My set up is maybe because I made them push my wheel forward so I can avoid hitting my cab mount. It did help. I'm not sure if that maybe the reason they set my alignment that way. Or maybe because I have 2.5" shocks with 3" coil on my vertex. But I'll definitely show that settings on your truck to my local alignment shop see if they can do it that way. Thank you

Just put the new ones in and get another alignment, and specify that the BJs are all the way out. This is an easily solvable problem. They are super easy to change out in the garage or driveway. I make sure mine are set all the way out before going in to the alignment shop. Sometimes they get knocked a little off while wheeling. They are easy to reset - there's no real pressure on them. I love my SPCs, I've had them for many years and I've only replaced the ball joints once so far. I drive 15 - 20 thousand miles per year - a fair bit of that on very rough roads, and the truck occasionally gets wheeled pretty hard too.

    Chalk it up to experience.

Ball joint out board 100% of the time.

It's slotted for the rotation of the joint, not so the joint can be installed inboard.

In board like that is correct. I have my lowers maxxed out, and mine sit about in the same spot. I have limit straps to prevent it from hitting. You could have it re aligned, and have them push the upper ball joint camber out, and then adjust off of the lcas. But, that wont give you max firewall clearance like you want.

Supposedly max firewall clearance when running spc’s is setting the ball joint at the +1 setting then adjusting the front lca alignment bolts all the way in and the rear lca bolts all the way out. Then fine tune for alignment

Which is fine and all but it always hits the coil, even on spacer lifts. Limit straps are a bit excessive in my eyes.

interesting as I don’t have any coil issues like you mentioned. 5100 w/ eibach coils. So I don’t think this is a “always” problem
