Are you forgetting about the TWO recalls we have had this year so far, referring to the fuel pump and just recently, the center stoplight issue? I have a 2019 that I bought new in April of 2019, and this year, I have had to take it in twice for these recalls. Now I have to say that both times, the dealer did a good job of getting me out quickly, but still, it was a pain in the butt to have to take it in and sit around waiting for it. The thing was, that I bought the truck because I had had a 1996 for 23 years with no issues or recalls at all, but I figured my time was running out and I liked the 3rd generations. So I bought one thinking I wouldn't have to be taking it in to the dealer ever again, as I never took my old 1996 back to the dealer once I drove it off the lot brand new. But with the 2019, of course I took it back for the free oil changes, and now this year since those ran out, I still had to take it back for these two recalls. I am beginning to wonder if I made the right decision in getting rid of my trusty old 1996 Tacoma!

What a terrible inconvenience for Toyota to notify you that they aren’t 100% perfect, and offer to fix things before they even become problems for you. I’m sure your 1st gen would’ve run totally trouble free for another 25 years, but I guess you’ll just have to settle for this lowly 3rd gen now.

I’m at 70k and almost 5 years. The original battery died at 1 year and the dealer replaced. Otherwise just simple maintenance.

So let me get this straight...

You have a truck that hasn't had a problem other than it was involved in 2 recalls...to fix something that was even broken on yours...it's now undependable?

If you would feel better having the truck breakdown so it's worth the trouble of taking it back to the dealer, buy a Jeep/Dodge/RAM. You'll be grinning ear to ear.

1 year in with my 2021 and about to hit 15k miles.

Only issue I have is rear shocks are wearing out from the weight of all the panties that get thrown my way. :D

Exactly, I had a Ram that was recalled when it was 10 years old for some safety issue with the air bags deploying at random. It took them 10 years to recall that, at least with our 2 recalls they were done quick and Toyota was on top of things. Luckily the air bags never deployed on the Ram :)

Right, never a single recall on those first gens. Except for that time Toyota would buy back and crush the trucks, or replace the entire frame. But hey, that's nothing in comparison to a third brake light.

No recalls here 1.5 years and 10K miles in on my ‘20. It hasn’t been back to the Dealer since the night I bought it. Then again it does still have its original hood....

Dry rot in axel boot at approx. 25,000 mi. The axel was frozen that required a replacement. Done under warranty.

I've had my 2021 TRD Sport since May 14, 2021 and it's got just over 5K miles...no issues.

    And I love it!!!

Getting a Talon Cat plate for it...arrives tomorrow.
