Trying to get into a 2022 Tacoma, it'll be my first new vehicle purchase in a few years. I keep my vehicles 6-7+ years so my next new vehicle , I want it to be with everything i want. I'm running into the issue of specific models not being readily available with specific packages. My ideal configuration.

2022 Tacoma TRD-OR, DCLB, TRD-Premium OR package, and advance tech package. I'd actually take one without the advanced tech package if I could find one, but for a difference of $900, I figured why not get everything. Built on the Toyota website $45,450.

Dealers are telling me basically " good luck finding that configuration" , they give me the option to come out down a deposit, and hopefully their allocation will have one at some point.

One dealer did have an option of adding in the premium off road package after the fact, I guess they would install the premium of road package into a TRD-OR? What's your thoughts on adding it in at dealer and not from factory?

You can't do a true order like you can with other manufacturers. With Toyota you can configure it and the dealership will basically have to wait until Toyota makes one like that if there isn't already one at another dealership

When I purchased my 2018, I requested a specific configuration. As said above, Toyota doesn't take orders per se, but the dealership REQUESTED an allocation of my specific build. It took about three months, but I did get EXACTLY what I wanted.

This. That's how it worked for me. Deposit to the dealer with order request. A month later Toyota assigned it from their allocation list, 3+ months later my truck arrived. It had a few extra add ons from the port but the model/color/options were all correct. At least 10 dealers told me to kick rocks before I found 1 that would do this for me though. All the others literally stopped calling me back, they don't want to do any work long-term even with a deposit.

I just put a deposit on a '22 Offroad, and the dealer I went to didn't have the one I wanted, but was able to swap with another dealer for the Sport they had.

Damn! Good luck man! I guess I got lucky to find one in one of the color choices I wanted with all the factory options except the tonneau cover. Has the carpet mat/sill protectors, mud guards and exhaust tip port installed.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Swaps between dealers work ONLY if the vehicle you want can be swapped with one that your dealer has ON THE LOT, AND that the other dealers wants to have on his lot.
With the overall shortage of vehicles, no dealer wants to let go of what they have, or may have coming in their allocation. Tacomas fit into the category of vehicles that no dealer wants to let go of (unless the price is right).

Is there no Pro for 2022 model year? It is not on the configuration page.
