Suggest to steer clear of baits near the truck. Remember, baits will ATTRACT the vermin. If they eat the bait, then they crawl off to some tucked away, difficult access cranny to die and stink.

Set traps away from the truck. Park in an open area. Rodents do not like open spaces. The vermin scurry along walls, fences, wood piles......any cover. Remove any food or nesting material. Such as seeds, paper, dryer sheets...... Harvest season is here and Winter is soon to arrive, the vermin are looking for a place to hibernate. No food, no nest material, they will move on.

Soap, dryer sheets, peppermint oils, strobe lights, sound.......are all wallet emptiers. Cats generally are not good mousers, feral cats are different. Terriers are much better at hunting vermin. Search Utube "terrier hunting rats", you'll be surprised.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
Spinning bucket rat trap..cost about $2 to make if you have aa 5 gallon bucket.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYCqWSz6lNg

Fill the bucket halfway with water, you will have some rat bodies to dispose of.

I usually cover the middle of the roller with peanut butter.

I have 4 cats, 2 were strays 1 is a old farm cat and the last is a domesticated fur ball. I rarely see mice here, and when I do its usually only half of a mouse.

You have 3 cats that were wild.........

I have no cats, only a mini-schnauzer who has killed 5 large (2-3 kg) rats. I also use the described prevention methods. I don't see any mice or their remains.

We dont get the big rats here, just the little snack sized ones. Have you ever watch Joseph Carter the mink man? he has a bunch of ratting dogs and those things are crazy.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
Vermin love the wiring harness for the knock sensor under the intake manifold. Had them gnaw the wires right down to the connector last year around this time. Cost just under a kilobuck to have a shop do the work. Fortunately, insurance covered it under comprehensive.

These links are for Gen2, but I think it's pretty much the same procedure for Gen3 (maybe not the same part numbers).

I've got at least 4 OPCs (Other People's Cats) that regularly hang around my house (they know what time I leave for work, and when I come home). The chipmunks and field mice fear not. One of the bastages did take out a Mourning Dove, I was pissed.

Yes, I've watched the dog/mink teams. The dogs are in their element hunting rats. Some of the vids from England are amazing. The teams will kill hundreds of rats on a farm in just a few hours.

Last night I put a strobe light under the hood and sprayed Simple Green all over the engine bay. Checked under the hood this morning and a few fresh turds but no new nests.

So the strobe lights provided good light for the mice to crap on the engine and the Simple Green gave a nice clean scent for their toilet area.

Neither the strobe or the Simple Green are working to repel the mice.

    Unmasked KISS wannabees.

I like their music...especially since that song was played in "Weird Science".

They tried to be Mötley Crüe wannabes, but were actually a less talented version of Cinderella.

I was looking on my phone to see if I had a picture of my 80s-90s cassette collection and came across this gem of a video I made in 2016

    Cassettes.... Luxury.

My first car only had AM/FM.
My next car had an 8-Track. No rewinding, no flipping over, just stuff it in the player, it would run until the head unit got hungry.

BTW.... not to derail the OP's problem.....has the rat concern been addressed???
