Makes me want to install a GPS tracking device like those used by the "Buy here, Pay here" car lots.

Hopefully they catch whoever did this and you get your truck back intact. Shit like this makes me glad I have an SR5 with the H-key.

IH8THIEFS! Sorry OP, hope they recover it.

Funny (ok not funny) was just showing the :princess: how to change the settings on the SprintBooster and showed her how to disable the pedal in case we have to park some place "un-comfy". Not sure a great method, sure is an option now.

Given the insane pricing being asked / paid for used Tacoma's and the serious lack of new truck inventory at dealers, I am surprised we have not heard more of this happening. I would think that car theft overall would be on the rise given our current suck ass situation.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Unfortunately like it has been mentioned, it is probably already in a container somewhere and destined for Africa or Europe. This is no joy ride theft....If a thief wants it, they are gonna take it...

Sucks bro! I have a device that plugs into the OBDII port that acts like a GPS tracker, so if someone steals my truck, I know exactly where it's at. Good luck and hope you find your truck.

Unfortunately this won’t do anything if they bowl is not covered with a conductive metallic plate.
What type of remote starter did you have? I’ve often wondered if hacking the remote starter would be easier, given they’ve already been programmed with the immobilizer bypass code. I had a remote starter in an Acura TSX that once it was remote started, could be driven away without a chipped key. It couldn’t be started with the non-chipped key, but it was perfectly sufficient once the remote starter had bypassed the immobilizer.

Years ago I had an old S10 Blazer stolen from the parking lot while I was working. There is no worse feeling than coming out to look for your car knowing where you parked it, but it's not there. I feel your pain.

FWIW, they found the car 3 days later minus a tailgate and the audio system. Cop said it was probably a parts order.

Doesn't work very well after the thief pulls it out and throws it in the neighbors driveway. These people have seen these tricks...

If they can't find the truck , just take the cash and buy an EV pick up soon:

at least it will make theft and break-ins a little bit harder:

This thread has inspired me to hide a small "Tile" tracking device in my truck.

This. I have a device from ‘Trak 4 GPS’ (I got them on Amazon) on two of my VW’s. $40 for the unit, $7/ month for the service. Both are hidden well, they seem to last about three months on a charge, plus I can move the unit to another vehicle if I want. If the car moves more than 10’ I get notified. Probably going to be adding a unit to my old T100 and a motorcycle I’m particularly fond of as well.

OP, I’m sorry this happened to you.

Can't Toyota track the truck for you? Doesn't their app show the GPS location?

They easily block anything transmitting in the vehicle the cop said. It did show a last parked location about an hour away at 3:14 am. And my app said the airbags were defective. Again he said probably just them screwing around with the computer. He told me not to get my hopes up of seeing it again.

I use a beefy club and I have a viper alarm wired into my ignition all to keep my 2001 from getting boosted by some asshat. Agree, thieves should be punished in such a way that future thieves are adequately deterred. Make of that what you will.

Tile like mentioned above or apple tags if you are in the Apple ecosystem, both are similar to what you have but without the service charge.

Personally I would set up the Apple Air Tags, even if its just on an old beat up iPhone that sits in a drawer. Apple is everywhere and your tag will get a ping from someone eventually.
